Next time you fire the Mosin, try pulling straight back on the safety before trying to release the bolt. It will cock the hammer and allow the bolt to open much easier. It is how the Russians were trained to cycle the gun in order to keep the sights on target between shots.

The few that I have had were easily cleared by dropping the mag and racking the slide once or twice. If one round is sticking out a little, tilt the gun so gravity helps.

Disassembling the frame is not really difficult. There are some good videos that can be helpful. Take your time and be careful not to let the springs fly! It is a good idea to use a large clear bag to keep everything contained the first time you take it apart.
