Re: magazine failure during firing.
The hammer spring is also the spring that holds the magazine catch. May be too light.

You also have to learn to really hold the grip when you fire. What you are experiencing is double tapping the trigger as the pistol recoils.

Re: 1971, P64 round or triangle hammer?
They made the change in the 71/72 production year so you may have a late 71. My 71 has a round hammer.

Another area that you may want to polish is the frame where the trigger connection slides and where the trigger connection slides along the hammer spring pin (upper end).

Two styles of P-64 Magazines
So which ones are the aftermarket ones and why do some Pre-1969s only work with the short feed lengths while the post 1969 will work with both styles? You cannot use a long feed length magazine in a pre-1969!

Re: Nick of time...just in today from SOG.
Did you install a new recoil spring? If yes, that is the problem with the slide. You have to grind down the two ends of the new recoil spring so that it looks like the original.

Two styles of P-64 Magazines
I know that there are at least two different styles of magazines. Does anyone know what year they started using the longer feed length? In addition to the feed length I had two versions of the short mags. One had a solid follower and the other a skeleton version. I have a 1971 and would like to conf...
