Re: Newbie here. Naive question..
Hi and welcome. The only thing that would be foolish, in my opinion, is not shooting it stock on the first outing. Why mess with springs when you have no idea how it will perform to begin with? Also, don't forget, a few hundred rounds can really help smooth things out with any firearm - P64 included...

Downtime on 5/22/2014
We had some planned downtime last night on 5/22 to upgrade the forum software. Also, if you had trouble logging in yesterday (or staying logged in), this issue has been resolved.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Bah, there's no need for apologies.
If you want to pick this conversation up in email, it's no problem. I think you're looking for a reverse cant left handed Model 1. Does that sound right?

Re: 8x54r French Berthier
From the Wiki page: The Berthier rifles and carbines were a family of bolt-action small arms in 8mm Lebel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berthier_rifle So unless I'm reading this wrong I think you are actually looking for 8mm Lebel ammunition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8mm_Lebel I think this is a...

8x54r French Berthier
No, I don't have one, but please read my short plea - I have a good buddy who's father has 1 year left on Earth to shoot, drink, eat, and be happy. I'm actively seeking info and resources on this round, 8x54r. If anyone has any primers, bullets, or fully assembled cartridges, I'd love to hear from y...

You were looking for one of these?
If that's the case, we'll get you entered right away. I remember our conversation going in the direction of a SOB cavalry style draw.

Re: Mak P64 question
If it was Stephen A Camp, then it was likely this: http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/MakarovBersa.htm
Note that the comparison is with a Makarov, not a P64.

I'm not sure of a full translation, but you can copy/paste into Google Translate from the PDF.
Acrobat had a few issues recognizing the text from the images, but overall, did a decent job.

Re: Another way the P-64 can discharge w/o pulling the trigg
Let me ask you this - have you taken the grips off the gun and observed the action? These guns weren't made by robots, so we've seen tons of strange variance on this forum. The shot below is the gun at idle, slide and grips removed. Note how the tooth arrester notch and sear are linked. http://i44.t...

Re: Another way the P-64 can discharge w/o pulling the trigg
1-7 are correct. You say you're unsure of #6, but if it is false, then so is #5. The little red Polish Army manual (I know, I know, I really need to scan this thing) states that the hammer hook I was referencing, and the one you're asking about, is named "Tooth arrester." This coincides wi...
