2nd M44 is finished
After an abortive attempt at "re-floating" the shellac, I sanded to bare wood, washed with 100% TSP (no water) to take out any old grease / cosmo. Then 2 coats of Minwax Red Oak followed by about 8 coats of Tru-Oil. Sanding as to remove only the shellac, no arsenal marks. Stock was pretty ...

2nd M44 is finished
After I got my first M44....and then 1500 rounds of ammo, I figured that I needed another. After all, if something happened to the first one, what would I do with all that ammo :o So, this weekend I bought myself a birthday present and spent a couple of days doing the refinish thing. Before: http://...

AK-47 and Savage .17hmr bolt gun.
AK for protection from pirates (nothing too big on a desert Island) and the .17hmr for sniping seabirds for food. (assuming ammo is free - .17hmr ammo is as portable as .22lr. Else take a ruger 10/22 instead)

I thought it was simply an easy way to "re-crown" the barrel.

Gotta New Gun
Saw only one P64 today at a gun show in Concord, NH. They were asking $175.
One table had 5 P63's for 150-ish with a free box of ammo.
Silver Bear 9x18 ammo was selling for $10.95 / box
Sounds like you did pretty good.

Got another Mosin M44 today. It's a 1944 Izzy. Paid $90 for it today at a gun show and was worried when I got home and swabbed the bore. At the gun show, they have trigger locks on them so you can't take the bolt out and even if you could, there was enough cosmo in there to choke a horse. Took a lot...

Responce from Ebay President regarding gun policy
Since eBay has a policy against selling firearms on eBay because of the VT shootings does that mean they feel somehow responsable for what happened? And if so, doesn't this mean that they are admitting some liability? Also, if they feel so strongly about things, why wait and not ban firearm related ...

Responce from Ebay President regarding gun policy
Looks like the same canned response I have seen on other sites. I'm sure they didn't even read your email.
Wonder if you can sell box-cutters on eBay?

Ok, I'll bite, here are mine: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a107/dschrier/Gun%20Stuff/P-64/IMG_5157.jpg Painted the white grips with Krylon Fusion texture paint. Fixed a messed up pair of grips (brake cleaner) and they look good as new. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a107/dschrier/Gun%20Stuff...
