1st suggestion is to swap out your springs. Even if you only replace with stock weights do it. Weak / bad springs seem to be a common malady for these old workhorses.
And Hornady is my reccomendation for carry.

Was the felt / perceived recoil less using these grips? I have not been to the range with them on yet but I bet it feels less because these grips are a bit wider at the web of the hand.

Why? these things were designed with steel cased ammo in mind. It is what they were designed for. I have never had a problem with steel cased ammo. Ever. period. Now if we were talking an old lever action gun or early military surplus collectible that may have softer steel then I would be very hesit...

I started in with the dremel tool about an hour ago to make them work. I will let ya know how it works and maybe then we will have a deal.

Silver Bear HP for practice AND carry if out of Hornady critical Defense of XTP for EDC. Silver Bear HP is not a bad round if you check out some of the testing done on it on You Tube. I have tested it on water jugs and was impressed enough where I am not worried about using it for carry.
