p-83 question and old revolver talk
Elitist or not but I bet you would pay a lot more for a Liberator that was far worse war time technology than a stamped P 83. That being besides the point, I think that TGI is sending a feeler to see how much P 83 is going to bring. Please not the the TGI is the seller on Gunbroker. I was the one wh...

Start Holding Your Breath
If you carefully listened to arguments and then the questions asked by the Justices and, if you also read any comments by those lawyers who practiced in front of the High Court you can be reasonably sure that the total ban on handguns in DC will be overturned, but the 5 to 4 decision will stress the...

Radom P-83 Vanad's at Gun Broker
GR - no offense taken. You are right in that if and when the police or military P 83s show up here, the prices will definitely be different. Besides, as Trent mentioned above, some of the milsurp collectors would not even look at the commercial sample, and that is OK too. Like with anything elese, a...

Radom P-83 Vanad's at Gun Broker
Just for your own information, Gunneyrabbit, they will never again be seen in a commercial, Polish Eagle format - ever, because Radom factory stopped making these in 1995 and they will never be made again. You may be getting some police issue used guns from time to time but never a commemorative iss...

Wayne Black Oxide
I don't know anything about this particular refinishing operation (Wayne's) but if it is true black oxide technology then it is no different than bluing. Instead of blue it is black. It is not Tenifer or Teflon or Tungsten - it is achieved by oxidation - just like bluing. Kahr company some time ago ...

SMC 918 questions
The only other difference between the two that can be important - (and you can see it on nbender's photo with both SMC and P64 ) is that the P64 slide is profiled at the back so that the sharp bottom edge is up and away from the web of your shooting hand. I have SMC which is, in fact the smallest 9x...

P-83 the replacement for the P-64
I obtained permission from the publisher of American Handgunner magazine to post my article about P 83 on this forum but, unfortunately, I have no idea how to do it. It is in the pdf format.
Any suggestion will be pricelesss.
Thanks

Longevity
I think that the best answer to this question of longetivity is the fact that since the year P64 was first produced(1964) it is still being issued to and carried by the police in Poland. There is a very interesting thread on the Polish police forum that deals specifically with this particular pistol...

P-83 the replacement for the P-64
You can check with Bartos, but as far as I know, they stil issue these to the Polish troops in Afghanistan. I have two brand new, never fired (except one I fired for the article) consecutively numbered from Tad - very first 200 he imported and I wrote a comparison with the Makarov article published ...

OT: Man shoot Polish P-94 WIST pistol
Hello Bartos: My advice would be - don't hesitate even a second. Take the MAG. It is a wonderful pistol and the weight doesn't make that much of a difference in the field conditions. We are not talking an undercover police assignment in Hawaii where the size and the weight may be critical. We are ta...

Fitting a holster
You could also use special liquid sold by Mitch Rosen and Josh Bulman to facilitate and break in a new holster. This stuff is amazing and works with the tightest leather. Just a drop does the trick without any damage to the gum finish.
Check out their web pages for details.

OT: Man shoot Polish P-94 WIST pistol
Today "Daily" Polish newspaper reports the Polish Defense Ministry admission that the soldiers sent to Afganistan are very poorly equipped citing, among other problems, major defects in WIST 94 pistol. They claim that it can jam 28 out of 32 times and that the issue holster is way too tigh...
