Finally shot my p64 with Dennis' wattle grips ... it is actually more comfortable to shoot and it handles quite nicely. I think that these are definate winners in the enhancement category!

MFS "+P" Factory Reply re: Pressure
I should have mentioned that I don't think that cases from max loads shot in a P64 with standard springs can be reloaded as there will be a healthy (or maybe unhealthy :o :o ) "smilie" after it is fired ... and this is on loads that work just fine in the PM. I also wouldn't load max loads ...

sources of empty brass?
the 9x19 conversion to 9x18 is possible but is a royal PITA! The 9x19 mouth diameter is much smaller than the 9x18 so you have to grind down a trimmer pilot. The other thing is that a millimeter of trimming is ALOT! MidwayUSA sells the brass and that is what I use for all my 9x18 reloading.

MFS "+P" Factory Reply re: Pressure
FWIW ... my QuickLoad software shows the 9x18 as having a max pressure of 1,600 bar (or 23,206 psi) ... and they list it as a CIP limit, not a SAAMI limit. I guess that doesn't contradict anything that you have there ...

I got two sets of grips from dmarchal ... they arrived pretty quickly (especially considering that they came from practically the other side of the world!). All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!! I got a set in Wattle and a set in Walnut, both unfinished as I wanted to finish them with BLO to match some ot...

I don't know about optimzed for short barrels ... the powders that work well for 3.9" Makarov bbls tend to be the same ones that work well for P64 3.3" bbls ... basically they are fast burners. I have worked up loads using a chronometer, QuickLoad interior ballistics software, and the shap...

That Interordnance and CAI use the NRA standard, I believe ... that AIM, J&G, and CDNN use it, I do not. I have ALWAYS been impressed by the way that AIM and J&G under-rate their wares even based on my "common usage" definition of Very Good ... when I have purchased an "Excell...

Replacement Grips I make
Sounds to me like Zee takes pride in what he does and that making something that makes all his customers happy is part of the joy he gets out of it ... unfortunately, some folks are downright difficult to please and that can be frustrating ... I'm now kicking myself for not ordering a backup set. Th...

Just to get this back on topic ;D I got a P64 from SOG that had a bad safety ... I complained on the phone and they had me ship it back (anyone can ship a pistol to an FFL as long as you declare it as a pistol when you ship it) ... they sent me another and credited my VISA for the $30+ that UPS char...

PA-63 SPRING IN P-64
Great! I just ordered a pair from Wolff and will measure them ... this design is right on the edge of what is possible so if you have found a winner, I'm all for using them. Too bad Wolff doesn't offer bulk prices on the recoil springs like they do on the mainsprings.
Thanks for the tip,

Norm,
Is this a mod that you have already tested? How did it work for you? Do you have any way of verifying the strength of the spring that you end up with?
TIA,
Saands

Dickfunk: Glad to be back ... I got lost in some other projects for a while ... but the 64 really is a favorite of mine, so I was happy to see that my logon still worked It sure is fun to see that this site has become so popular ... Now ... back to work on a manufacturable recoil spring!
