J&G P-64's

weirdjack - sounds like your experience was almost identical to mine. And you're right, pictures don't do them justice. They look a lot better in person. After my first range trip, I had mixed feelings about it, but after my second trip and another 150 rounds, I am really crazy about that little gun...

Unpleasant experience.

I had the same bloody trigger finger after my first outing with the P-64 as well. I shot 100 rounds through it and the webbing of my hand was red and swollen. However, I took it today to the range for the second trip and I put 150 rounds through it today and it was a much more pleasant experience. I...

J&G P-64's

I received the 1976 model with the triangular hammer as well. I didn't even try to request a specific year. Just getting one of these things was enough for me. Mine doesn't have a single flaw anywhere that I can find. I'm about 95% sure that it had never been fired. The bluing is perfect. I couldn't...

Taurus PT1911 Improvement

To each their own! If it works for you then go for it. I guess I've just never shot an arched before. I guess I've never even though about it because I've never had problems with mine. But I have relatively small hands so that could be why. One thing I'd like to change on my Taurus is to get rid of ...

Taurus PT1911 Improvement

I have the exact same gun, but I've never had a problem with the backstrap like that though. As long as it's doing better for you now, that's all that matters. I freaking love my Taurus 1911. It was a great intro model to the 1911 frame and the gun shoots as good as any other 1911 I've shot before. ...

Yugo M48 vs 24/47 Mausers

Thanks fellas! I got the scope mounted a few days ago and I'm off work today so I'm heading to the range to get it sighted in. I'll let everyone know how she shoots.

Recoil will get your attention! Hang on! ;D You're right about that! It sure got my attention the first time I shot it. I still can't believe how comfortable mine is to carry. I guess I'm so used to big heavy guns pull my pants down. But I can seriously wear this gun all day and not have a single p...

Yugo M48 vs 24/47 Mausers

Thanks for the kind words fellas! I know it's definitely not what you expect to see from a custom Mauser. It's definitely different and not exactly something others would choose for themselves, but I went into this project with the idea of doing something completely custom for me. I'll never sell it...

Yugo M48 vs 24/47 Mausers

Well I finally got around to getting the barreled action blued. I used a place in Arizona called Kelso Gunsmithing and I couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out. It has a really nice gloss to it and the bluing is a dark dark blue color when you look at it really close. I bought a cheap sco...

Yugo M48 vs 24/47 Mausers

I'll try to remember to get some pictures of my Mauser project on here soon. The barreled action has been sent off for bluing and I expect it to arrive sometime this week. It's a Yugo M48A with the floorplate swapped for an original and the trigger guard slimmed down. I've got a Timney trigger on it...

Yugo M48 vs 24/47 Mausers

I'd keep it for as long as you can. If all the 8mm dries up completely, you'll have a good action that you can use for another project of a different caliber if you wanted. A lot of people are seriously against scrapping milsurp stuff, but the Yugo Mausers don't hold any particular collectors value,...

I wouldn't mind a Yugo SKS either. I like the laminated stocks on them though.

TG International, parts for the P64!

This sounds like it might be a great resource. I haven't checked on what all they carry, but it might warrant being made into a sticky! Just my two cents.

First Shot? I'll go with Single Action

I used to carry my 1911 cocked and locked all the time without a bit of fear. It's on the night stand like that right now.
