Conical 9x18????

I found 2 boxes of Fiocci 9x18 Police (not ultra) with conical bullets. What is the purpose of conical VS ball? It is probably a better penetrator, but I would think it would zip through a subject with less trauma than even ball. We didn't have this in pistol ammo in the military. I have never seen ...

Just bought my 3rd P-64

I had my FFL purchase sinc I don't have a FFL or C&R. I was LUCKY from what I hear to find such a nice one. The nice lady at SOG said all the nice round hammers are gone and they are scraping the barrel.

Norinco version of P 64 is M 64

Found the M-64 on their website. The basic shape is that of the P-64, but it seems like they modified the rear of the slide to look like a PM with a PM hammer. Also the trigger guard is less "winter glove friendly". Very interesting. I would say it is more P-64 than PM. Nice looking pistol...

New spring weights and extractor question

gmountain.... After talking with Wolff I was informed that they would be building the springs from the ground floor up. They stated they do not reccomend using PPK springs and to do so is at you own risk. The P-64 was designed for a certain diameter recoil spring with one end that screws on the barr...

nbender... Understood, and I agree with you. Although I am no expert on the P-64 I really like the little gem. I'm always on the lookout for owners to preserve their P-64's. Spare parts are hard to find - non-existant.

I am not referring to the Makarov when I mentioned "pushing the envelope", since it is rated as you stated. I am concerned with damage to P-64's IE: "pushing the envelope" of the P-64's design parameters which are still an unknown. Looking at the lack of slide mass (when compared...

Left handed?

I carry religiously, but I am not a police officer. I personally feel safer carrying chamber empty. Plus if I do have to "rack-a-round" I will be in the sweet S/A mode with my P-64. All out 1911's were carried chamber empty in the military, I guess I'm just used to that. As a civilian I do...

If you read that post it states that the Makarov Guides rates the Makarov as able to withstand pressure between 17,000 and 19,000 PSI. The Makarov is not the same as the P-64. I would only shoot ammo within the design parameters of the pistol. Since there is no published info readily available for t...

P-230 vs. PPK holster

Sorry for the finger slip... I meant P-230. It's a little slimmer in the snout like the P-64. The PPK slide is thicker like the PM.

Got a really nice 1972 from SOG. She picked through the lot and said it was the only one with nice bluing. My 71 from Horton looks like hell. I got another 71 from Horton 8 months ago that was mint. I guess the really nice ones are gone. At least I have a parts gun!

New spring weights and extractor question

Interesting.... Does Wolff market these as made for the P-64 or PPK, or are you using springs engineered for another gun (PPK)? I am an experienced armorer and I would never use parts not engineered for that weapon except in a dire emergency, in a foreign country where my life depended on that weapo...

Interesting. Where are you getting these springs that are engineered for the P-64?
