New P-64 owner question

randall - It sounds like you did it correctly if the hammer functions OK. When I swapped out my spring, I DIDNT get that part fitted correctly, and it was quite obvious that something was wrong after I assembled it. I then had the joy of doing the whole thing over again. The image below might help, ...

Firing pin difference

My 72 firing pin (rounded hammer) sticks out further than my 75 (triangular hammer).

Good question. I think the OP should take both firing pins out and compare them. :D Maybe there was a manufacturing change to the pins during the years.

I've never had a misfire with either.

P-64 Sources ?

What's the best way to get one ordered from SOG if you're not personally a FFL holder?

Edit: I see they are now at least showing product on the website. Smart move by them.

Does ya slide stick in decock?

FWIW, my 1972 exhibits the same behavior, er, if I understood Nick clearly. I don't like to rack the slide when the decocker is "down", I feel like it is exercising the safety mechanism unnecessarily. However, out of habit I always check the chamber when I drop the mag out, and if the deco...

OT: Happy Holidays

Wow. This year has screamed by - it doesn't seem that long ago around this time last year that I was checking out this site; I picked up my first P-64 in January...

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Bianchi Minimalist 105 holster

Well, look at it this way - you're ahead of the times in some respects, you have a cool little pistol that not many others have discovered yet. Holster looks good on the Midway site.

Will not decock, broken

Good news about the seller, was it a private party?

BTW - I purchased some snap caps from this guy:

(maybe somebody in the pistols 30 year life replaced the pin with an out of spec. or completely wrong pin altogether)
or a replacement firing pin spring, god knows they're easy to lose.

Have you taken the safety out and removed the firing pin, looked at the firing pin spring to make sure it's not fouled, etc. ???

Recoil Reduction for a New P64 owner

Gave up yesterday and hoped it'd go today, but it didn't. Any tricks? Thanks guys.
My 1975 can do this as well, it's annoying. Check the slide stop, sometimes mine is in the "engaged" position - I believe this will prevent the slide from being attached again.

Safety dropping on while shooting

Bingo! Good call by Norm. :D I did end up ordering the spring pack from Wolff that Norm suggested. In it was an approximate sized spring for the safety plunger (a little beefier, similar to my 1972's spring). I cut it to what I thought was the right size. It was harder to install the plunger though,...
