changed hammer spring.

I changed mine to a 20# also. I felt it greatly improved my P64. I also changed the re-coil spring. I had tried a lower hammer spring, (the 18#) but I had light hammer strikes. I was shooting Wolf. I have read that Wolf primeras are a little harder than some of the others. Moving up to the 20# fixed...

Reloading the 9x18

This is a good post, I have been collecting wheel weights with casting my own in mind. I have a brother that works in a car dealership and of course he gets me all the lead I want. Now, if I just had the rest of the stuff......See you guys. Have fun.

P-64, For the Ladies? I don't think so!

I know some male shooters that don't like a P64. My son for one. He's not a whimpy guy, 6'2" 215 pounds, wrestled in High School and went to sectionals. He hates the little gun. I really think its what you work yourself up to. First time shooter may not be comfortable shooting a P64. Start on a...

Reloading the 9x18

With some advice form donnerwetter58 I have been looking into re-loading. I have a line or two on some used equipment but it seems as if everything I try to mail order is back ordered. I mentioned using 9mm Luger brass and cutting it down to use for 9X18 and another guy didn't think it could be done...

recoil same, worse or not as bad as 357 revolver

This past weekend I shot both my .357 and brought out the P64 and shot it. At one time I recall advising someone that the re-coil from a P64 was the same as a .357 revolver. Well, not so in my opinion, The .357 from out of a SW model 65-6 was not my idea of a picnic. I don't like the sharp recoil fr...

Wolff Springs Starting To Piss Me Off!

I know its a little late to jump in here on this discussion but my experience with both of my P64's is that changing springs was different for each one. One went together ok after changing the recoil spring. The other was impossible and I had to take a little meat off of the tight end of the spring....

East German Makarov,new to me!

Gunny, You have a winner with an East German Mak. The only thing I've ever done is replace a recoil spring to tame recoil a little. Found some nice grips but the East German original grips are black and nice and slim for CCW. If you like to tinker on handguns, the Mak might not be for you, nothing g...

Light serial numbers

You could put a 9X18 barrel in it. I don't think you have to do anything else to it, and you would be ready to shoot 9X18. In my area, 9X18 is cheaper than .380. I'm a little surprised at the cost of .380 comparitively speaking. Granted the .380 I'm referring to is boxer primed and reloadable and th...

East German Makarov,new to me!

Hi himmel, If you want , count the parts, I don't know, I read it on the Makarov.com forum somewhere. I have three Makarov's and I have not taken them down that far so I have not counted the parts myself. I do know they are simple and a bunch of fun to work on. If you look it up or find out how many...

East German Makarov,new to me!

gunneyrabbit Thats a good price on an E German Makarov. I have three Makarov's, two Bulgarians and one E German. The trick is to collect all four versions, E. German, Bulgarian, Russian, and Chinese. Good Luck. Chinese are hard to find, the Bulgarians are the easiest. E. Germans have the best finish...

I didn't know that Hercules was Polish?!

nero, springs will make a big difference in the double action and single action. Many don't change a thing. The 18# was a little to light and I had some light hammer strikes with some ammo. I moved up to a 19# in one and a 20# in the other. It was fun playing around with it until I got it the way I ...

Your a smart man. Pick your battles. Something may come along sometime and you will just have to buy it. You now have that opening to do just that because you have shown restraint to her on this occasion. I like your style. Keep up the good work. :)

FINISH AND MARKINGS OF THE P64

I have not heard of them being re-arsenaled. They may have been. Overall, I doubt that mine were used much at all. I really don't have an accurate statement for your question. I do know that one of mine came to me through MCS Firearms and it was in great shape, looked brand new. But are they? I'm no...
