How are you carrying the P-64?
I carry one in the chamber with the safety off and the hammer down. This works for me because I switch between three guns. P-64, Makarov and CZ-82. All 9x18 and all have heavy DA actions.

Caution: do not over tighten grip screw!
I had a tight magazine yesterday, turned out that I had over tightened the grip screw and the mag was rubbing against the inside of the left grip.

Grips & Magazines
It is a shame the guy selling the magazines is not having a dutch auction. $15 is the lowest I have seen them go for. Most of them are in the $20 range. He had 12 magazines. Four of us bidder got six at $15.00 each. I was first bidder for one. These are the remaining six. And I still do not underst...

This is a three finger grooves, I love it. Found a slip on grip made by Pachmayr, Slip-On Grip Medium w/finger grooves the size is model #3. Good fit and just what I needed. I did need to trim a little off the tip of the heel. Found it at a local gun shop. About $9.00. Link is for picture ref. http:...

Flying Slide!
As big as my hands are, I probably was. I also am really glad to hear that it happened to someone else! Since then I have added a slip on Pachmayr grip. Were you holding it with your finger around the front of the trigger guard?

Flying Slide!
It is my guess that the trigger guard release became disengaged while firing. With my paying more attention to how I hold this little beast it has not happened again. It is a 1976 year and appears to be brand new. I have since aquired a 1977 new. I am putting that one away! I just wanted some opinio...

Flying Slide!
I once had the slide fly off while shooting (in my backyard) it landed about six feet in front of me in the grass. How could this happen? Since that incident I pay closer attention to how I hold the gun and glance at the safety after shots. Possabilty: 1. Saftey going on during recoil? 2. Trigger gu...

How about including all 9x18 handguns?
Since I got hooked on Makarovs I have decided that anything I can shoot 9x18 ammo in can't be all bad and is worth my interest. I now have the p-64 and a CZ82.
