Re: The New P-64 Mag Release.
Looking at thing again today and I REALLY like it. I'd be interested in playing around with a prototype if you intend to field test it.

To me, the idea is a nice one and I don't find the prototype ugly at all. From a marketing perspective, you'll run into obstacles with regards to install, left grip panel relief (replacement?), and hanging up on holsters.
I still look forward to seeing its progress!

Re: Why would dry firing with no snap caps damage the safety
People regularly use a 17# spring with no unintentional mag drops. Any lighter than that and your single action would be too light, I think.
Best thing to do is try a few different weights in your specific gun.

The mainspring is responsible for tensioning the magazine catch.

Re: Why would dry firing with no snap caps damage the safety
Like the other guys said, the firing pin wasn't intended to travel the full length of its channel. Combine that with a thin piece of old, possible brittle steel, and you could experience a break. I'm not an expert either, but I believe the safety breaks under dry firing because the hammer isn't slow...

I don't have any input to offer on your issue except to try the old parts again.
I do want to say that the gun sure turned out pretty! Who did the cerakote?

Looks interesting.Dennis wrote:It is the same gun but with a better safety. I would wait next year, Zastave is coming out with the PPZ a pistol that holds 18-20 rounds of 7.62x25mm.

Re: saftey broke
I looked into having new parts machined a year or two ago, specifically the safety and firing pin, and I was quoted a price that was completely cost prohibitive. Something like $125 per part, in lots of 100 pcs. The safety could've been much better designed, requiring less tooling.

Re: Wheel gun guys - need advice
I had an opportunity to put a few downrange and this little guy is a keeper! I knew it would be a soft shooter, but had no idea it was going to be so accurate. This one isn't going anywhere! Thanks for the tips, guys!

I think gun broker is the first stop, but some show up here from time to time. I'd say keep a watchful eye on GB and hopefully you'll score.

Re: Wheel gun guys - need advice
Well, I wasn't really looking to buy anything. He brought it out with a few others to show me and I could tell he didn't have any connection with it. I offered to take him shooting and the idea didn't do anything for him. He said it just sat around and collected dust, so my knee jerk reaction was &q...
