Re: The P-64 is now C&R eligible!
Have fun fellows. One P-64 is all I really need. I have far too many other fine handguns.

Re: recoil pain
I use a Hogue or cross creek grip sleeve to ease the recoil pain. I noticed the stock recoil spring give me less recoil slam than a stronger Wolff recoil spring.
Of course, YMMV.

Re: Silly grip screw question
Either direction is fine, IMHO. Just don't over tighten screw 'n crack plastic grip.

Re: Won't fire double action.
I suggest a good firing chamber AND round indicator chamber cleaning is necessary as first step. Then try a 17 or 18LB hammer spring, along with Russian Bear FMJ or JHP ammo.
18LB hammer spring in my 1973 specimen gives me 3.4 LB SA pull and a 11 LB DA pull.

Re: Chips in breech
My '73 P-64 has a slight chip in same location. Shoots well with no problems.
IMHO, take yours out 'n enjoy it.

Re: Broken Safety
Disassemble, clean thoroughly along with cleaning firing pin chamber & round indicator chamber, with a good solvent and LIGHTLY lube safety assembly with Slide Glide, then carefully reassemble.jobot wrote:My safety works but it really hard to move any ideas?

Re: Thumb safety issue
I used Break Free on a stiff thumb safety assembly, but found is continually leaked out soiling a holster.
Solution was to completely disassemble the safety, clean with a good solvent, then LIGHTLY lube with Slide Glide.

Re: Hair trigger
I did the 18lb hammer spring exchange a few weeks ago.
Yesterday, a local gun smith with a digital gauge checked the SA and SA trigger pull on my (1973) P-64:
Single action pull was a consistent 3.4lbs.
Double action pull was 12lbs.
Of course, with your P64, YMMV.

IMO, an 18lb Wolff hammer spring is the absolute limit in SA pull.

Did the spring change, but...
I think it's all perception - mine is stock in all areas and I have no issues with recoil. ??? Ditto. My P-64s and other milsurps are 100% stock. Only thing I've ever added is Hogue Handall Jr. grips. Look back through the forum at the posts by guys who have screwed up their P-64s tinkering with th...

Did the spring change, but...
Patient is a '73 Radom P-64. I replaced the hammer spring with a 18lb Wolf and the stock recoil spring was exchanged with a 20lb Wolf. New Wolf firing pin spring was used. result is - DA pull is nice and smooth and SA pull is very light, maybe 2-3lbs, but ok. However, felt recoil is painful, even w...

Shipping from Wolff
Wolf is located in Southeast Pennsylvania where they got dumped on with 3 feet of snow. They probably are still digging out.
I'm also waiting for an shipment order.

Why i always keep my p-64 on hand!
I'm in Arizona where open carry is widely accepted, plus an Arizona CCW permit is easily obtained. Therefore, many Arizona Citizens always have a gun at hand.
