Re: surplus market dried up?
As was said, if the U.N. arms treaty passes, the surplus market will be dead. That applies even if the U.S. doesn't approve it, but the U.N. does. So buy them while you can. Who can say what the surplus market will do? The goal was not to end trade in firearms but to regulate it. At least that was ...

Re: P64 RECOIL
Seeing some factory cases bulged with commercial P-64 ammo, makes me wonder if some are a little on the Hot side, perhaps even hotter than the above. I've seen some tiny bulging near the head of the case with commercial ammo, especially those Blazers. Enough to notice with an eyeball but probably n...

Re: P64 RECOIL
I am thinking of getting a p64, but all i hear is the recoil is so bad, does anyone know how it compairs to the recoil on a keltec p11 9mm, i don't see how it would be and i don't think the p11 is bad , and do they seem to be a gun that will take a high round count . thanks Compared to a Colt 45 19...

Re: Chronograph Results
I'd like to do the comparisons again when it's warm outside. I think that the Chronograph will work properly. I'd also like to do a baseline against a Makarov and a 38 snubbie with light bullets. What would be great would be some ballistic gelatin tests. I have a line on cheap gelatin, and might run...

I have the 22 lb spring recoil spring. Makes the pistol a LOT easier to shoot.

If you're thinking of attaching a licensed suppressor please consider the experience of the Russian PB suppressed pistol. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c7/PB_pistol.jpg/300px-PB_pistol.jpg A blowback operated pistol like the Makarov or P-64 will not work well with a suppresso...

Removing Extractor for cleaning.
I bought a Russian Makarov a while ago. This evening I decided to clean the Makarov's extractor. I used the Russian cleaning tool to do this. there is a little "hook" or stub on the end of the cleaning rod that you use to push the extractor plunger back into the slide. This tool works grea...

Never noticed any slap on mine. I'll have to feel for it next time.

Re: Misfires with Silver Bear
I found a set of NC #4-40 x 1 1/4 panhead screws at Lowes. Add a #4 Nut and washer. I trimmed the excess with a set of diagonal cutters and filed down the stub. Total cost was five bucks. Gene, glad you found some value in the previous posts. Thanks again, Junius. You saved me from chucking the poor...

Re: Cleaning the cleaning brass brushes
I wrap the brush in a clean rag and gently squeeze. Since the last thing that touches the bore is a cleaning swab I don't sweat brush cleanliness much.

Comparison between P-64 and Makarov
Finally took my Makarov out to the range after getting it out of the grease. I'm shooting a Bulgarian surplus. There must have been a really different design requirement set for the Makarov versus the P-64. 1. The Makarov has an odd sight picture. It's hard to explain but compared to the P-64 it is ...

Re: Is p-64 a good target pistol
Most I can do with a P-64 is about fifty rounds at a clip. The darned thing is hard on my hands.
I'm growing used to the heavy trigger pull. I guess that the fingers grow stronger if they're made to rise to the occasion.

Tip to increase grip strength - P-64 DA pull
I read about this ages ago.....
When you start to squeeze the trigger hold your breath and bear down on your breath. This isn't recommended for people with high blood pressure but will increase your grip strength.

Re: Misfires with Silver Bear
As for the grip screw, you can buy another (alternative). Look at Lowe's or most any other hardware store for a M3 x 0.5 pitch metric nut. They'll be tiny. I couldn't find a long M3 fastner at Lowes. I decided to purchase some NC #4-40 screws and will tap the frame to accommodate them. I know that ...
