Dennis Grips, which wood?

I just received my grips from Dennis yesterday (Monday, 9-24) and put them on my P-64. I was torn between the red wattle and Zebrawood. I finally settled on the Zebrawood because I figured it would be a more exotic, less commonplace look. It definitely does! I will post a pictures shortly. I still l...

Trigger stopped working?

Uneven - If there is no tension on your trigger at all then you may have busted your trigger return spring. If you do have some tension (trigger moves forward on its own) then you may be having trouble with the safety. I'm having similar problems, although not as severe as yours. Mine is intermitten...

Just back from the range...

Oops, my mistake. I meant to say Blazer (95 gr TMJ). I don't know why I remembered it as PMC...?

Anyone Fired Pow'rBall Yet??

Just curious if anyone fed CorBon PowRball to the P-64 yet. I'm sure it is robust enough to take the punishment. Just wondering about accuracy, recoil, muzzle flash, etc...
Am I correct that PowRball exits at around 1200 FPS? That would be pretty impressive in a 9x18.

Just back from the range...

Yes, I did see that. That is the way the spring went back in, we just wound up doing the install differently. It is pretty difficult getting the spring and trigger into the trigger well so we cut a 'slave pin' to hold the spring in place while the trigger got lined up. Once it was lined up, the trig...

Just back from the range...

Manicmechanic - no, the slide came back into battery every time. The problems are either with the sear or trigger. After the action cycled, the trigger remained 'disconnected'. When it was not safety related, I would either have to play with the trigger (like a cap-gun) or slightly move the hammer b...

Just back from the range...

I put 50 rounds of PMC ball through it. Problems I encountered were: the safety moves under recoil; several times this produced a free-swinging trigger until I noticed the safety lever out of place. Several times the pistol just didn't cycle properly making follow-up shots impossible. I had to monke...

Gun work

I just finished a complete disassembly, cleaning, deburring, polishing of all contact parts and reassembly of my P-64. I spent part of yesterday and today with an old friend who is a well qualified gunsmith. All went well except for reinstalling the trigger. Couldn't figure out how the damned trigge...

Effectiveness of th 9x18

Thanks all. Close to what I had expected, I suppose. As volfandan pointed out, there should only be one reason to ever pull the trigger in defense of oneself. I do understand the difference between a bullet's stopping power and a bullet's killing power. Having an attacker absorb 6,7,8 rounds and kee...

Effectiveness of th 9x18

Being a 9x18 virgin, I'm not at all familiar with the power or lack thereof of the round for defensive purposes. I'm assuming it lies somewhere between a .380 and a 9MM Para which leaves a pretty wide gap. I've only seen one or two offerings in regard to bullet type (ball or HP) and would probably o...

P-64 Sights

Has anyone toyed with the almost-invisible sights on the P-64? Would aftermarket PPK or Makarov sights fit? Your suggestions are always appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Analysis of Safety Plunger Problem

As my gunsmith friend tells me, WD-40 is a rust inhibitor/remover. Since bluing is a form of rust, WD-40 on a blued firearm will eventually damage the bluing and you'll have to start all over again from bare metal. Sounded reasonable enough for me...
