Re: trigger pull question
Does the transfer bar rub the inside of the slide? I've polished the transfer bar and applied grease where it rubs the slide above the trigger area and it smooths things out a bit. If there's a sharp edge on the front edge of the transfer bar, break that a bit. I also polish the sides of the mainspr...

Re: new member, probably not a new question
Use an 18lb hammer spring, and 20 lb recoil spring. If the gun won't reassemble with the new recoil spring, grind down the ends, or cut about a 1/4 of a coil off. Even with the new springs, I like to take a good india stone, and polish the hammer spring strut, and the top rear of the transfer bar wh...

Re: IWB Holsters Lebanon OH
There's a holster shop just west of Middletown Ohio that makes decent holsters too. All, Just found another resource for IWB custom P-64 holsters in Lebanon, OH. May go check it out. Will let you know if the quality is there... Just qualified for my CCW with my new to me P-64 and LOVE IT. Had to fil...

Re: Experimenting with Making a Holster
The diamond punch works best for clean stitching holes. After it's sewn, and you wet it to get a good fit, the holes close-up. I mounted my punch in a small press to speed things up. Tandy sells some decent leather. But not top knotch like the big guys use. They really push using dyes. I would advis...

IWB Holster I made
Made a "Milt Sparks" style IWB holster for my P64. Seems to work pretty well. If the straps seem kind of forward; that helps keep the bottom of the grip turned inward to hug the hip better.

Re: Red Safety 'dot' replacement
Put a dot of paint on your front sight while you're at it. Get the ladies involved in picking a color. They like that. I ended up with a hot orange color.

Re: Idea to increase firing pin striking power
I'd like to see something better than just the 18lb spring kit because in double action, the transfer bar is torquing and bending like crazy. I wonder if some old armorer in Poland REALLY knows what all they did to bugger up the original design and for what reasons. I wonder if they might have short...

Idea to increase firing pin striking power
What if you file the aft side of the safety around the firing pin, so that the hammer can push the firing pin forward more, or longer before the hammer face is stopped by the safety. Would this increase primer strike force on guns with lightened hammer springs???

Re: P-64 Spring Projectile Distances
In my shop, it's not distance that counts; it's the number of surfaces the spring or pin ricochets off of. Of course hitting the cat counts extra.
Just curious...what are some of your P-64 spring launch stories and downrange distances achieved?[/quote]

Knob Creek, Oct. 12-14
Went to Knob Creek Saturday; taking extra shoes, socks, pants, umbrella and two hats did the trick. Not a spot of rain. It was dusty though. Had two helicopters, nice crowd, but definitely not too crowded except of course for the inevitable dolts who wear those stupid back packs. "Infidel"...

Saw a keltec at the gunshow last week that had an exploded barrel after many rounds of good factory hardball ammo. Looking at it, the barrel is kind of thin. If your P64 is a backup ccw gun, I'd be hesistant to replace any springs but I would consider replacing the mainspring. There a how-to on doin...

Knob Creek, Oct. 12-14
Always plan for rain at Knob Creek and find some joy in that and then it won't rain. There's some kind of microclimate there that invites rain when it's sunny in the rest of the state. Trick is to be there already when they open. The Patton Museum at Fort Knox is a must-see, not 20 or so minutes awa...
