I cut my spring about two coils. I could not operate the safety until I did. Worked for me.

Truth. I read about the problem someone was having with firing DA with a round in the chamber. Having just bought one, I decided to try mine, and sure enough it had the same problem. I need a replacement firing pin to replace a broken one. Some advice: don't dry fire your p-64 multiple times with an empty shell in the chamber, I did and the firing pin pierced the primer and got stuck in the primer hole.
