Well, it's all apart, and everything looks great. All my screws are alright, but I'll probably replace the band screws. I am missing the cleaning rod stop, so I guess I need to make one tomorrow.
What brand of cold blue do you use, Norm? All of your's look perfect!

Re: My New IMA antique
Good, glad to hear it's not that bad. Tomorrow, I will take all of the metal parts to my work to put in the solvent tank to clean up.
Do you blast and reblue, or just clean the rust and leave it as is?

Re: My New IMA antique
Well, it didn't look as good as I was hoping, but it really doesn't look as bad as I thought it might. It's all pretty clean except for these two pitted spots: http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x257/piaggior/gahendra009-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x257/piaggior/gahendra010.jpg What do ...

Re: some of my IMA 's Antique Guns
I think I have at lest one of every rifle IMA sells of the un cleaned ones NORM I would really like to get there. I might be a little late to the game, but I'll try to catch up slowly. I am really interested in the Brown Bess and Three Band Enfield, but my wood working skills are a bit questionable.

Re: some of my IMA 's Antique Guns
The shipping is a little slow to Arizona, so I have to wait until Thursday for mine. If it turns out in decent shape, I might order something else in a couple of weeks.

Re: some of my IMA 's Antique Guns
Thanks Norm. I will start a thread once I receive it. I'm sure I'll have alot of questions about it. My daughter is even starting to get excited about it, she's asked to see IMA's website a couple of times today.

Thanks Norm, that's the way I will go then. If I can get one to look half as good as any of yours, I'll be very happy.

Is that why they are priced so cheaply? How about the Gahendra rifles? I'm not real sure of my restoration skills, so I'd like to start as cheap as possible.

Those are beautiful, Norm! I have been thinking about buying on of the Martini Henry rifles for a project for my daughter and myself.

Re: problems with Sellier & Bellot ammo
I've had really good luck with S&B ammo. Was this the new production brass cased ammo? I had some of their older steel cased ammo that worked fine for me also, but it was definately older ammo.

Re: Help me decide!
I like both, but I prefer the Makarov because of it's simplicity. I think it has only 30 parts total. I once refinished a CZ-82 and was amazed by how many parts it had.
