9mm mak stopping power vs 38 special?

Glasers in 9 x 18 still around. The PowRBall is a 70g round composed of a hollowpoint with a polymer ball in the cavity, so it should feed like FMJ, penetrate clothing well, and then expand very well. I ordered direct from the company and it took forever to get here, but I think they may have been t...

9mm mak stopping power vs 38 special?

Just got in new 9mm Mak PowRBall ammo.

70 gr round
1300 fps
263 ft/lbs energy

I plan on shooting it soon. I hope with the light cartridge the recoil will be better. The rounds are really cool, polymer ball surrounded by a hollow point.

First DA Trigger Pull

I'm going to take it to a gunsmith. I don't know I trust myself to do more than field strip.

First DA Trigger Pull

Yes! Before you pull the trigger after cycling the safety, try giving the pistol a VERY hard rap on the bottom. Did it work first time? I think what happened with your pistol is also happening to one of mine (even after I replaced the spring with the stock spring). It seems to be the disconnector ha...

Could some of the confusion be from guns that are put together from collections of parts?

9mm mak stopping power vs 38 special?

From http://www.sportsmansguide.com/resource/remington_charts/38spbal.htm a normal (non + P) .38 special has ~ 200 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Blazer 9mm Mak ammo is about 220 ft-lbs at the muzzle. http://www.le.atk.com/Interior.asp?section=2&page=pages/ccispeer/ccispeer_blazer.asp Most .38 special...

Decided against the P-64

I would say that if you have not thought and can deal with out all the ramifications, you shouldn't carry. And that includes legal aspects.

Decided against the P-64

I agree. I usually carry a stock Glock 27 for self defense, but my P-64 gets a workout as my trunk gun. With the 16# Wolff spring it shoots well (it was impossible without the mod to pull the trigger single fingered). I think it is one thing to "trick" out a gun and make it dangerous. The ...

Decided against the P-64

I think a simple comparison by your defense attorney would suffice. Demonstrate the P-64 with the stock spring. (I have this mental picture of the opposing attorney not being able to pull the trigger.) Demonstrate the P-64 with the 14 (or 16 or 18#) spring. Show table of comparisons of trigger pulls...

Who carries to Church

Look at Lott's statistics. 13 of 14 times a firearm is used to defend against a crime, the trigger is not pulled. Happened that way in my one experience. If you think us carry types are looking to go vigilante, you don't know us. Every permit holder I have ever met has been very thoughtful about the...

Who carries to Church

When the Lord comes back, "the lion and the lamb will lay down together."

Until then, I'm carrying.

Lk 22:36 (MSG): "He said, "This is different. Get ready for trouble. Look to what you'll need; there are difficult times ahead. Pawn your coat and get a sword."

Who carries to Church

And I would add that I understand those who do not choose to carry to church. One of my best friends at church is a pacifist. I respect his choice too, and how he does not put me down for my carrying choice.
