Re: I just bought a broken P64...

My last range trip with this gun was fun! I was hitting steel fairly regularly--even in DA! There is one last issue I'm having... When I flip the safety off, the trigger bar doesn't always lift for a DA pull. At this point, I think I'll just have to polish the contact points and shave the channel i...

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

Update after Norm's spring install: It works! I got through two mags without any issues.

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I took this to the range on a warm day a week or so ago, and every shot did not reset the trigger. The trigger bar is straight. I just ordered Norm's trigger spring to try in it. I'm hoping this works. I really like the gun, but I am beyond frustrated with it, too.

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I usually use Lucas gun oil. I've had good luck with it on my other guns.

After getting everything cleaned out, the disconnector still got stuck. I think this will just be a range toy. I do enjoy shooting it. The new mag works well.

Re: Carry questions- or Resurrecting a dead horse to beat

It may have been mentioned, but I didn't see it in my skimming. With the safety on, the firing pin is physically blocked by the saftey's drum. So, the pistol is drop safe when the safety is engaged, but not on fire.

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

A good practice on any newly acquired firearm is to completely disassemble and thoroughly clean and lube everything before going to the range. I have found this to be especially important on milsurps. Also, always take multiple firearms to insure your day is not cut short due to a malfunction. Now,...

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I did put the new firing pin spring in, and I went to the range yesterday. I had one light strike on Silver Bear, so I installed the 18lb hammer spring. The 22lb recoil spring helped bring the POI up to the POA. I was hitting about 4" low before. I had issues with the trigger not engaging after...

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

The mag is paid for and on its way. Also, the springs came yesterday. Replacing the mainspring was easier that I thought it would be. I'm excited that the double action is at least usable now. There's still a hard wall towards the end of the pull. There were firing pin springs included with the reco...

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I bought a mag on Gunbroker. It's still under review. The springs should be here Monday, and I also have 200rds of Silver Bear FMJ coming in to work form me.

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

Mine's a '75 model.

I have a cheap DeSantis IWB holster, and it sewed up nicely.

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I will probably get it, I just can't right now. I'll get the extended mag catch package when I do.

I have a small holster that I bought for an XDs-9, but I'll be able to stitch it up to fit the P64 perfectly. Then, I'll need to find an extra mag.

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I found some S&B 9x18 today, so I got two boxes. 25 rounds fired flawlessly, though one time the slide didn't lock back on the last round. It's only going to be an occasional shooter for me, so it doesn't bother me at all. Now, I just need to get a grip sleeve to take the sting out of shooting t...

Re: I just bought a broken P64...

I was able to install the new safety today. Now, I just need to find or order ammo.
