Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

I looked for a place on their site to leave feedback but didn't find any - only returns. I already spent a long time waiting for the part and do not want to triple the wait while a return in initiated and a new part sent -- if they would do this. It's not worth my time. In any case, I cleaned off th...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

FYI, My "new" hammer arrived from Numrich last night. This was a disappointing experience as shipping time was very long and the part is either used or of very poor quality. Some of the edges are worn, and worse, it arrived covered in rust. All of this for $42 which is higher than similar ...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

Honed the edge of the full cock notch and cleaned the edge of the sear. Reassembled the gun and took it outside to put 6 rounds through. Even though I barely removed any metal, the hammer would fall when the slide functioned after firing the first round but there was no detonation. The gun required ...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

How scarce are hammers? I found one for a good price but need to find out if it's unused stock. A hammer from Numrich is really expensive ($42.50 with shipping) but is new. I hate to spend so much when better prices are available but don't want to lose out altogether if I hesitate. Of course my fear...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

The sear looks pretty good but I will be ordering a new one along with a "new" hammer if the repair works. Since the half-cock is so deformed I am wondering if hammers were occasionally made with soft metal? Since I already have photos of the worn hammer and have my macro lens and strobe s...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

I don't see any evidence of re-cutting. It almost seems as if the part was not properly hardened and has just been malformed from use. Any ideas where I can get an unused hammer (not one from a cannibalized gun)? I looked on Gun Broker and there are none listed. Ebay has one listed and I am trying t...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

GuitarmanNick You are correct! The contact catches on the hammer where it engages the sear are way out of square and are not parallel to each other. If you look at the attached photos, you can see that the lower engagement point is uneven and the upper engagement slot is sloped down to the right. Th...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

Thanks for the information. I do a lot of precision work and do have many sizes, shapes and grits of diamond files and other micro tools. After reading more about the various changes made to hammers over the years of manufacture i suspect that the sear does not have positive engagement with the hamm...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

Ketchman, I played with the trigger let off some more just before reading your last post. I think the problem is that the "let off" after firing is about the same place as the release point. In other words, when firing and releasing the trigger the point where the sear is once again engage...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

Thanks Ketchman, I have a little more disassembly and cleaning to do, then I will take it in to someone. I was really hoping that someone on this forum had some technical ideas on how to do the repairs but even posting specific questions like stiffening the sear spring has gotten no reply. I'm someo...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

I do want to take it to a gunsmith, but I’m wondering if the P64 requires special knowledge?

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

I guess I must have bought this gun from someone with the same attitude.

I will not sell something I know to be unsafe.

Sear Plunger Spring Stiffening?

Has anyone tried a stiffer sear plunger spring to increase the SA trigger pull? Mine SA pull is unsafe as it is too light. How about other changes such as a new hammer? I've been told that older hammers were different with stiffer SA pulls. Is there a way to tell which are the older models? Mine's 1...

Re: Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

That sucks. I sincerely hope that I can get this fixed as I hate to waste money on a useless gun. If this is the nature of the gun, why doesn’t anyone on this site warn people? In good conscience, I can’t even sell this thing because it’s too dangerous. Even shooting targets the gun fires right afte...

Please Help -- 1 oz SA trigger pull

I could really use some help. I posted before that my P64 fires too easily. Someone replied that a reduced hammer spring could make the gun a "hair trigger" so as I had ordered a set of Wolf Springs I decided to check to see if the hammer spring was reduced. The gun was just purchased used...
