Re: Failures to feed

It's your recoil spring, mine did the same thing when I switched to the wolff 22lb spring, I switched it back to stock and haven't had any issues since Did you grind the ends flat on the 22lb spring? Or just put it in? My 22 pound actually had its ends grounded flat by the gunsmith so that definite...

Could you start another thread detailing what you did for the new Magazine spring? The question often comes up but no one seems to have recent documentation of how to do it. Thanks.
Heck yes I wanna know too.

Yeah I notice that most of the time when these guns don't work properly it's because of cosmoline build up, or some issue with magazines.

Re: Failures to feed

Before you go on a tear, just try one change at a time so you'll get a better idea what the problem is/was. Might just be one simple thing and you need go no further. But you knew that .... I think, IMO, the ammo and lube are good choices. Just FYI, all my P64's run an18# hammer spring and 20# reco...

Re: Failures to feed

The round just doesn't seem to be pushed in all the way. Are they the older mags or new mags? It will still be important to note what mag is giving you the issue, or if it is both. Yeah that may be it. I'm gonna test with only 5 rounds in each mag and see if that solves the issue. If it does. I wil...

Re: Failures to feed

I just routinely load five rounds. No FTF since I started doing that.after about 700 rounds. I mean, my P64 is 50 +years old. I don't expect perfection. Makes sense. I may try to use only 5 rounds in the mag and see if that works. Definitely trying different ammo too. I really want to load six thou...

Re: Failures to feed

I have not cleaned the mags. Are there any tutorials on how to? I have not changed the hammer spring. Only the firing pin and recoil spring and I will be testing a lighter spring to see if the ammo was weak and not cycling the slide all the way back. I did not fire it in its original configuration ...

Re: Failures to feed

I EDC mine. I was concerned at the range when I had to tap it into battery. Experimented, now it is 100℅ reliable is lubed up regularly TED Interesting. Could be a lube issue... Maybe it's just been a while since it was fired. Lol. I noticed the failures seemed to lessen the more rounds I shot out ...

Once a month I lube it up with a little Froglube.

That may have been it too. I did not lube it before I shot it. It had just been received from my gunsmith.

Re: Failures to feed

Also, if the Gun was filled with Cosmoline, were the mags cleaned out thoroughly as well? If not you may want to clean them too. Then figure out a way to mark/identify each mag. Next time if you do have the problem again, take not of what mag you were using. What hammer spring was put in? Was the F...

Failures to feed

Hey guys! I got to shoot my P64 today and I noticed it had a few failures to feed. :/ It was made in 1974 and I replaced the recoil spring with a 22 pound recoil spring and I also replaced the firing pin spring. Oddly enough, the failures seemed erratic... I only have two magazines that came with th...

Interesting. Hmmmm . I wonder if a gunsmith can be creative for me.

Re: New Mag. Release.

The fit is in clearance all around. Lousy pics. The release rotates thru an arc so it does not snag on the knurl. If that is what you are referring to. I also test every new v.05 with the new release before shipping. If one wants more clearance. It's fairly easy to carve out the grip to suite. The ...
