Re: P64 new owner

Mags are usually to be found on eBay, as well as many other parts. Good luck with your P64. I love mine. Mine came with 2 mags, but I bought 2 extras from ebay, so I now have 4.

Re: Hard to move slide

Raulmanny, yeah, it is a stiff pull, both for racking the slide and disassembly, at least for my old hands, but manageable with a bit of practice. Function of the direct blow back design used.

Re: Suggestions for Care and Cleaning of OEM Holster

Since yours is a brown holster, instead of black shoe polish, use brown, or tan. You will be able to tell which to use after you have oiled the leather well. It will darken a bit. Use whichever matches best. The polish will color in those areas that may be scratched, or those tiny cracks in the surf...

Re: Suggestions for Care and Cleaning of OEM Holster

Here is what I do to recondition these holsters, and it seems to work well. First, inspect all the seams very well. If any repairs need to be done, have them resewn by a good cobbler shop. Then soak the inside of the holster well with neatsfoot oil. I mean paint it on heavy with a paintbrush so you ...

Re: 22 Rifles

I own 3 .22 rifles. The first is a Remington 514, a single shot, bolt action rifle that will shoot .22 short, .22 long, or .22 long rifle. I bought it back in 1971 when I was in the Navy. Back in the day, .22 short was quite cheap, cheaper then .22 long, or .22 LR, and a great plinking round for gen...

Re: Did I get unlucky with buying this P64?

Another thing occurs to me. You don't show the condition of the inside of the barrel. That corrosion on the breech end might indicate the weapon was "rode hard and put away wet," that is, shot a good bit and then not cleaned, leaving the powder residue to corrode the metal. If the barrel is as bad a...

Re: Did I get unlucky with buying this P64?

Unless that pistol was advertised as "for repair or parts" You were ripped off. I would try to get my money back if it was being sold as a usable weapon as it is.

Re: My wife's P-64 has a "little" brother in the house

I use Brown Bear for my practice ammo. I find it quite consistent, feeds well in my P-64, and is reasonable in price.

9x18 MAK PCC, wouldn't it be nice !

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be nice if someone made a Pistol Caliber Carbine in 9x18 MAK, then we could carry one ammo for our sidearm and have a weapon suitable for longer range work too, even hunting up to medium size game, like hogs, which I have seen hunted successfully with .22LR. With a P...

Re: Favorite currently available 9x18?

I like Brown Bear FMJ for practice ammo. I find it more consistent in accuracy than Wolf or Red Army. For defense I like Hornady Critical Defense. I have had no problems with either in my P-64.

Re: P-64's available,differences?

There are two basic versions of the P-64, from what I have learned combing various articles. There is the rounded hammer version which you have. That is the earlier of the two. In 1972 some changes were made, including changing the hammer shape to make manual SA cocking easier. I think the 4 sku num...

Re: Just got a P-64, very nice weapon

Took my new little friend to the range today for the first time. From all the fuss some people make, I expected much worse recoil than I got. I like the original plastic grips fine, they fit my hand perfectly, as I said, I have large, but not meaty hands. No slide bites, or other fit related problem...
