Re: Brutal Recoil

Welcome! The recoil can be a bit sharp, lol! I took the advice I found in some past threads and bought a Hogue Handall Jr universal grip sleeve. The grip takes some of the bite out of the recoil. Others have gone to an upgraded recoil spring available from Wolff.

Re: Successive firing?

Does the pistol have a light/hair trigger in SA? Perhaps you are unconsciously releasing the trigger slightly and then retightening.

Re: Just curious...

I went ahead and changed out the hammer spring, mostly because I was interested in seeing what was installed. Using the great info here on the forum, I took off the old spring and compared it to the Wolff springs that I purchased (got the 3-spring pak). The old spring was visibly shorter and measure...

Re: P-64 Trigger guard piece broken

Thanks for sharing the event and glad that no one was hurt! What kind of ammo were you firing? Is there a chance that they were hot reloads?

Re: Color Fill P64 Engraving

I have not done this nor heard of the process but it sounds interesting. If you do it, please post some pictures. Hard to say whether it would hurt the value of the firearm. I think most buyers would be looking for something close to original but a nicely customized model could draw more money from ...

Re: Just curious...

The original spring is around a 25 - 30# pull weight. NO amount of use will lower that monster to 18# or so. Someone may have already changed it out (my guess) already. I use the 18# spring in my P64s and a trigger-pull gauge by the guy at the range gave me 18# DA and around 4 - 4.5 SA. That may be...

Just curious...

If the DA trigger pull weight normalizes over time and use. I recently purchased what seemed to be a new(er) 1968 P-64. The SA trigger pull is a comfortable 4.5 lbs, but the DA pull weight seems to vary between 18-20 lbs as measured by my scale. Has anyone simply left the original hammer spring in a...

Re: WELCOME THREAD AND MEM, INFO

Hi Folks, Just joined the site. There is clearly a wealth of information and expertise here! I stumbled onto the site last week while searching for information on a 1968 P-64 which I had purchased about a week earlier. I used many great tips to do a detailed cleaning of the pistol and remove the Cos...
