Re: Slide problem
Interesting. As they say, live and learn. I have read at different spots on the site but I had never seen posts about the spring orientation before, wide aperture at the muzzle end. I am wondering now if my occasional problems with the slide not returning fully to battery are because of this. It cou...

Re: Slide problem
Thanks, Gary. The explanation is clear and the photos really help. Looks like an easy fix even for a duffer like me. Thanks again.

Re: Slide problem
Glad you asked this. I was wondering the same thing myself but was reluctant to ask since everyone here seemed to know exactly what was meant. In fact, if someone answers, could he (or she) explain precisely what needs to be done and how? I love guns, but mechanically I'm a dope.

Re: Slide problem
Thanks, snailman; I'll give it a try with Flitz. Do you think it could be fouling there from the first 70 or so rounds? I didn't have any problem till then. (I also noticed during the cleaning that followed the range trip that the grooves for the slide rails were fairly dirty. I'm wondering if that ...

Slide problem
I've fired several hundred rounds through my P-64 now; great pistol with great accuracy. Two mags came with it, one with the gun's serial number electro-penciled on it. The other mag often gives trouble with the 6th round, failure to feed properly, but the gun's original mag has behaved itself. Howe...

Re: weapons used in self defense
I second what others say here about The American Rifleman and its Armed Citizen section; that's the first thing I read every issue. Be aware, though, that only a few of the many instances of citizen response to violence and crime get into the NRA's magazine. I have sent two and neither appeared, I'm...

Oops. Sorry. Didn't know about thread highjacking. I just figured I screwed up somehow and my other post got lost.

Re: How good are new mags?
I tried at a different part of this site to post a question about magazines, but got no response, so I'm trying here. I bought the P-64 and it came with two mags, one with electro pencil labeling that copied the gun's serial number; must have been the original issued with this pistol. The other had ...

Thanks for the warning. I didn't understand that the change would affect the SA that much. It's already extremely light!

Re: First time at the range. Slight problem and a question.
Thanks. The first thing I'm going to do is apply some gun grease to the slide rails, then think about the new springs. (I did notice after returning home yesterday that for whatever reason the DA wasn't as bad while dry firing, almost tolerable. I seem to remember that someone on this list said it m...

Re: First time at the range. Slight problem and a question.
OK, what you say makes sense. I didn't know that the disconnector would keep the trigger bar from engaging the sear, but the trigger acted as if I had engaged the safety (I hadn't). Thanks. Needless to say, I'll be alert to see if the problem repeats itself. (I've noticed that on occasion the slide ...

Re: Slide Modification.
I think your problem is the way you are holding the gun. On my first time out with the gun today, remembering what others said about slide bite, I watched closely to see if the slide came anywhere near my hand (it was cold and I wore gloves, but they were thin). There was no problem at all in that s...

First time at the range. Slight problem and a question.
Went to the range today with the new (and recently cleaned of cosmoline) P-64. I put 100 rounds of cheap 92gr Tulammo through it. I'm impressed! This thing is extremely accurate with its minimalist sights. The SA trigger simply cannot be improved on. It's cold here and I wore thin leather gloves, bu...

Do commie guns favor lefties?
The 9X18 ammo available where I live is hellishly priced. It's probably good stuff (defensive ammunition and what-have-you), but $31 for a box of 50 is a bit rich for range shooting. So today I went online and bought some of the Tulammo 92gr, 500 rounds for starters. Since I'm forced to fool around ...

Tip for reassembling magazines after cleaning
I'm new to the forum, but I just finished cleaning the cosmoline out of my new P-64 (thanks to Curly for the advice) and I had to disassemble and reassemble the two mags. Unless you have three hands the reassembly can be difficult, but I found a handy "tool" that helps a lot, an ordinary k...
