I did not notice a difference with other recoil springs either

Do not feel bad. I did the same thing. Bought the P-64, and while doing the 4473, changed my mind and bought the Bulgarian Mak as well

You are wise to join here. A lot of smart people. Look at some of the older threads to answer questions. Some great wooden grips also available here

One of mine is the tri-angle hammer 1974.
I kept original hammer spring, but experimented with the recoil spring.
Regular practice will help handle the DA trigger pull
