Re: P-64 Not Fully Chambering Rounds

Maybe a dremel tool with a polishing bit would make the job easier. I bought a cheap-o set of felt wheels, cones, balls and all kinds of shapes for about $10. I took my tool and used a conical-shaped felt bit (?) and used it. Being tapered it fit the ramp and chamber entrance easily and on an angle...

Re: Tula Ammo

If you really want a head-scratcher, most all my P64 pistols ran well on most all ammo. BUT ... I had one that had problems digesting "Silver Bear" with the shiny silvery coating yet ran 100% on "Brown Bear" which had the "polyformance" coating. You'd expect the better ...

Re: Mainspring/hammer question

Sounds like you inserted the hammer strut spur where it mates with the hammer incorrectly. This is going to necessitate that you disassemble it again. It has to be right or the hammer/hammer spring will not function as it should. I don't know for sure if the FP will break it right away but it may. ...

Re: differences between pre 72 and post 72?

They have different mags. The post will work with the pre and the pre will not work with the post. You might want to make that "might not work" as I have a few P64s and when I and my 2 granddudes have P64 day at the range, the mags get mixed up. I have them marked for the specific gun but...

Re: P-64 grips and spring changes

When I was updating the P64 pistols I had, I changed the FP spring along with the recoil and hammer springs. I figured that after 40 or so years, they'd put in their time! Since the spring came with the recoil spring, I just did it to do it. I'd guess it's not critical but as long as you have the sp...

Re: slide stop needed?

I think, IMO, that you only have to worry when it STOPS holding the slide back after the last round. Slipping a bit on disassembly, as many stated above, is fairly normal.

Re: Graco Pistol Brass Catcher

I just can't see myself using one of these...granted, i don't reload. Seems a little too hard core, like an accessory for an accessory. I guess if flying shell casings were a problem for me I'd look into a revolver. Or something belt fed haha. It's really not all that bad. There's enough room betwe...

Re: Graco Pistol Brass Catcher

Again, thanks for the info! The clip-on one for my front rail had to be adjusted a bit, too. Not because of sights but because I now have a"thing" sticking up on the right side of my pistol and need to slip my hand between it and the gun. Not really a problem so much as dis-orienting and a...

Re: P64 Trigger Bar Issue

The trigger spring tang has to be locked into the notch in the second post on the trigger bar. That did it. Thanks Slight problems or minor incorrect assembly/fix of the trigger spring, new or not, can cause problems. (Ask me how I know... :( ) You need to check it with a LIGHT to see in that darn ...

Re: Don't go too light on your Wolff Spring

I tried all the spring set ups that Wolff has to offer and reverted back to the stock set up. Like superc, I also felt/feel that the SA action was too light for comfort ... I still don't like the lightness of the SA for me to comfortably carry the P64 . Why? If you don't carry with the gun cocked, ...

Re: Slide very difficult to reinstall

Thanks for all the help. I figured out the problem. I wasn't pushing down hard enough when the slide was in the rear position. I've had the same problem at times and it can really be aggravating!!! I've also noticed a time or two that the bar that is lifted to lock the slide back after the m...

Re: Graco Pistol Brass Catcher

You made my Easter!!! I have one that attaches to the rail on my Glock G19 9mm pistol. Gets 97-98% of the ejected brass. I have a G36 in 45acp and G26 in 9mm with NO rail so they can't be "productive". I just ordered this hand-mount brass catcher after seeing the way it "mounts"....

Re: Don't change the springs.

I can''t imagine carrying it with a chamber loaded and the safety off. That would just be asking for an accident. Just keep the safety on and learn how to swipe it off if you draw the pistol. Carrying loaded and off-safety is discouraged but it's actually not a safety - it's a "decocker'. So, ...

Re: Don't change the springs.

Please, butt in more often. Always enjoyed reading your point of view. And glad to hear you take your reloading that seriously. I just read an online article for Guns magazine about some of the high speed comeaparts that can happen from mistakes in primers, seating depths, OAL errors, etc. that was...

Re: Don't change the springs.

Robhic good to see you back on the board. Thought you were tired of us. Nah, just a little tied up because dealing with 'splosives tends to make me be very careful and make sure I'm doing everything right! I'm getting better doing the reloading and have .45acp and 9mm about figured. I may b...
