Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

Mag springs are the thing I keep coming back to. I've also emailed Wolff and asked why they don't, and the response was "We don't know, but we'll get back to you as soon as we do". I think more of us need to bug them about it.

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

Hmm. Well anyway, I don't wanna jinx anything, but it seems like swapping back to the OEM spring works. I can't figure it out. Did all the manufacturers of 9mm Mak ammo decide all at once to lower the power of the cartridge? Did Coily the Spring Fairy come and strengthen the spring when I left my gu...

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

It's the Wolff spring, #20 I think, I'll have to check the package (EDIT: I checked it, it was the #22. Weird thing was, it's shorter and wider than the OEM spring. I don't remember if it came to me that way). It's never been a problem for the year I've had it. I thought springs where supposed to ge...

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

I would assume so? I've never disassembled them, and they're factory mags, so unless someone took them apart before I got to them, they should be good.

All I have to do is pull the slide back just the teensiest bit, and the mag follower pops the round in place. Occasionally, forward assist is necessary, but not often.

Re: Using Makarov mag springs as replacements?

I like your Luke 22:36! I believe what it says. Yup, right before he sent Peter & Pals off into the world, he said "Alright, look here fellas. There's gonna be some folks who don't like what you have to say about me. You probably ought to have something to get yourself out of that kind of ...

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

I wouldn't pay $25 a piece just for the springs, though. If the most recent reviews are anything to go by, they made changes to their mags since you bought yours in 2012.

Using Makarov mag springs as replacements?

I could have sworn there was a stickied tutorial on how to take Wolff's replacement Makarov magazine springs and trimming them down for use in the P64, but for the life of me I can't find it.

Re: Slide spring weirdness

I had this exact same problem with the Wolff spring, and this was back in July. Folks say it's been an issue longer than that. You'd think Wolff would start shipping the springs pre-flattened.

Have you bought one of them recently? All the recent reviews say they're okay.

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

Back again. Tried shooting a couple of mags of WPA and Brown Bear, and the same issue occurs. So it's not an ammo problem. Scrubbed and oiled the whole thing down again, and the very next mag didn't FTF on the first shot, but it happened again on the second. It occurred to me after looking at the ph...

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

Started loading the magazines with five rounds each, and the issue persists. After the first shot, the second fails to feed. I've got a couple photos here of one of these FTFs. You can see the bullet has a gouge along the center of the nose, makes it look like it was pressed together from two halves...

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

The brass cases have a lot of scorching and residue on them when I find them ( still burying themselves into the 4x4 posts , remind me to post more photos of that later). Going on what little I know about ammo in general, I'm leaning more and more towards the "loaded with less powder" assu...

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine

I'll get ahold of some as soon as the bills are paid. But as I said, everything cycles fine if I only load the mags to five rounds instead of six. It would be bizarre if something about the ammo prevented feeding of the second of six rounds instead of five. Unless maybe it's the combination of a per...
