Re: Mini-14's don't like bumpfiring, apparently.
Well it hasn't broken anything, it just caused an automatic field-strip. Won't hurt you to try

Re: Mini-14's don't like bumpfiring, apparently.
Yeah, just pull back and down on the guard there and the whole thing just slides right out. It's all held together solely by the spring tension of the guard, which is great if you need to quickly perform a battlefield strip-n-lube. But since mine is just for around the backyard, I'm gonna see what I...

Mini-14's don't like bumpfiring, apparently.
As part of the celebrations last night, some pals and I spent an hour or so on the backyard range with fireworks of our own. I brought out the ranch rifle to pop the gongs a few times, and then someone asked me if I've ever bumpfired with it. I said I'd heard of bumpfiring, but never tried it. Guy s...

Re: Is the trigger guard pin one piece or two?
The recoil spring is just about a year old, a 22lb spring from Wolff (with ends ground flat). Ammo is standard Brown Bear. I'm guessing the pin is just worn. Although unlikely, I wonder if this has anything to do with the other issue I have of multiple FTF's, which I'd previously believed to be just...

Is the trigger guard pin one piece or two?
I'm not at all sure when it happened, but the retaining pin for my trigger guard came apart. One side of it is still in there, so I'd thought it was two rivets. Lo and behold, I go searching for a replacement, I come to find out it's supposed to be one whole little bar. How does a piece like this sn...

Still no love from Freedom
I write in to Freedom Munitions once every so often, saying "9mm Mak is having a resurgence, you sure you don't wanna get in on this?", and every time I get a response saying "We'll pass your suggestion along to our R&D team. Because we have an R&D team." Now I see they'r...

Re: Red Army Standard ammo?
You probably haven't. I've come to find out that it's weak magazine springs that are my issue. Just a coincidence that they began to fail when I started with the RAS Elite.

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine
Welp, I think I can safely call the issue as the mag springs. Switching the recoil spring back to OEM worked for a little while, and now I'm right back where I started.

Re: Using Makarov mag springs as replacements?
I dunno, $25 a pop isn't reasonable for just springs. I'll keep it in mind, though, if no other alternatives present themselves.

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine
That's another good reason for them to start producing P64-specific springs. "No more guesswork! Get a spring designed for -your- gun!"

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine
Are the Makarov magazines double-stack or staggered? Not single stack like the P64?

I could've sworn I saw a tutorial here on how to trim the Makarov mag spring down to size for the P64 mags.

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine
It's not the "People would snatch them up, why aren't you making them?" that's bugging me. It's "You're already making recoil and hammer and firing pin springs. Why not mag springs and trigger springs as well?"

Re: FTF on first shot in full magazine
I'm gonna write Keepshooting, ask if they wouldn't consider selling the springs separately.
