Re: P64 Hammer on P83

I carry my P-83 IWB in a Don Hume holster. The hammer doesn't bother me, and I actually prefer spur hammers on my pistols more than the Commander style. I am a pretty thin guy though, so that helps I think.

Re: P83 holster

I may try one of those also. My P-83 is currently my carry pistol, and I am using a Don Hume H715 Mod. 10-3 1/2".

Re: Open carry Holster P-83

Try some holsters designed for a Beretta 85FS, or a Makarov (PM). I carry mine in a Bianchi holster designed for the 85.

Re: P-83 is fine with Hornady Crtical Defense 95 gr.

I realize this is an old thread but i was curious if you have done any mods to the pistols. Specifically the feed ramp of the 83. I know there have been issues with this round cycling in the P-83 (from what i understand the last few rounds). It may indicate more of a magazine problem. Has anyone el...

Re: Widener's p83

I bought two of the P-83's from Wideners several months ago, and am very please with both. One is in my carry rotation, as I like it that much. Both mine came with holster and cleaning rod.

Re: Intro and my new P83 from Wideners

I recently bought two from Wideners. One is a 1988, and the other 1987. Both look like they were shot very, very little, but carried as there is slight holster wear at the muzzle. Other than that they look virtually new. You should be fine.

Re: Hornady critical defense!?

I ran a box of Hornady Critical Defense through my P-83 today, and it worked great. That is what I am carrying in it now instead of FMJ.

P-83 is fine with Hornady Crtical Defense 95 gr.

I went to my range today to shoot both my P-83's. The first one I acquired is now a dedicated carry pistol so I wanted to try some SD ammo for reliable function. I put a box (25 rounds) of Hornady Critical Defense, 95 gr ammo through the P-83 I currently carry. It functioned flawlessly, and with sim...

Re: P-83 safety difficult to operate

Yup you may have to operate the safety for several times to smoothen the pointed tip of the detent. If it doesn't do it, then yes, you may have to dis-assemble and file that detent to make it a bit rounded. You may also file, at an angle, the slot where the detent locks in and out. Thanks. It does ...

Re: IJ-70 AH (double stack makarov)

You can use single stack Makarov mags in your double stack version of the IJ-70. They work fine, but do leave a space at the bottom. They are fine for range work, and lots cheaper than the Russian double stack mags. The double stack commercial Russian Maks are pretty rare here, as their importation ...

That's what I am thinking. I have already made some progress, so maybe some continued use will get the safety, and decocker smoothed out.

Re: P-83 safety difficult to operate

You may have to remove the safety to check for any burrs. Or if Wideners will do an exchange w/o any cost to you I would go that route. Thanks for the reply. I lubed the internal working parts of the safety in the slide, and that seemed to help the ease of movement of the safety lever. It is still ...

P-83 safety difficult to operate

Hi. New here, and new to the P-83. I have wanted a P-83 since I got into Makarovs (PM's) in the earky 90's, and always wanted to add one or two :) to my collection. Well since Wideners has them, I bought one, and it is now one of my primary carry guns. I like it so much, and Wideners has such a grea...
