Re: question about the slide

Just remember this is dangerous and if your crawfish pot is aluminum you cannot use it, nor can you use a steel pot with aluminum rivets holding the handles on. Any aluminum will be dissolved very quickly. basic recipe is 2 gallons distilled water, 4lbs lye, 3lbs nitrate of Soda if it boils before 2...

Re: question about the slide

I was going to try the Drain out bluing but could not find any to buy. So I bought the same chemicals in in Drain out and re-blued a Makarov that turned out beautiful. Here is a link to the How to project:

Re: First Impressions

I always take the P-64 to the range along with a Makarov and CZ82 and find myself shooting the heck out of the P-64. I find it really fun to shoot, but I do feel it latter in the base of my thumb and that is with wood grips. Before I changed the recoil spring to a 22# Wolf spring I felt more pain ri...

Re: Stovepiping -- could new hammer spring be to blame?

I am using an 18# Wolf hammer spring and have shot it with both the stock and Heavier 22# Wolf recoil spring and have never experienced any type of feeding or ejection problem. As stated above, I would do a good cleaning focusing on the chamber, ejector and extractor. I would pay special attention t...

Re: New guy has questions about P-64 cerakoting

I think hard chrome is the toughest and I just sent a CZ82 to Mahovsky's Metalife. I am considering having my P-64 done this way.

Re: Which Spring is best? 17#, 18#, 19#, 20#??

LantanaTX, hello! I've found the best combination to be 18# for the hammer spring and 20# for the recoil spring and , for the most part, I shoot Buffalo Bore +P almost exclusively nowadays. There's more than one reason for the slide failing to lock back on the last round, for failing to completely ...

Re: Which Spring is best? 17#, 18#, 19#, 20#??

Will do, It sure would be nice if there was a way to have a separate spring to hold the mag instead of sharing the hammer spring. With the stock main spring, I have a little trouble cocking the round hammer or accurately shooting it in DA. I bought a latter hammer which should make cocking it easier...

Re: Which Spring is best? 17#, 18#, 19#, 20#??

Be on the look out for the mag disengaging on the last round and your slide won't hold open. Just got back from the range after shooting with the 18# main spring and 22# recoil spring. Shot two boxes of Red Army Standard and for the most part the gun was flawless. As you stated, I did have one mag ...

Re: Which Spring is best? 17#, 18#, 19#, 20#??

I'm amusing you are asking about the hammer spring. You really should specify as we do change out the recoil spring as well. The 18# one is the one I use and I like it just fine. I have not tried the 17# tho. It all depends on your gun. Some people have report light strikes and to hair of a trigger...

Re: Radom Factory Parts Available!

I received all the parts I ordered from Laukart, holster, cleaning rod, 2 mags, and grips. Everything was perfect and brand new! The mags look so good, I almost don't want to insert them into the gun. The grips where not drilled though, I am sure they are brand new!

Well since I got no response, I decided to install the 18# and take it to the range tomorrow morning.

Which Spring is best? 17#, 18#, 19#, 20#??

I have all four and wondered if there was a consensus on the best one? I am more worried about reliability for CCW than a hair trigger.

Re: Radom Factory Parts Available!

I'm new to the P64, but I learned that a post 1972 pistol will work with any mag. A pre-1972 might have problems with later mags. The later mags have slightly longer feed lips, which can be ground/filed back to match the older mags. I did this with a late mag, and it seems to work fine in my 1969. ...

Re: NEED HELP! First Time to the range, Not good

At the risk of saying "I told you so", I think that I might have been right. I fully intend to bring this to my wife's attention! Seriously, I'm glad the problem has been rectified. You could be right and I will do more testing to find out for sure. I am going to keep the stock mag...

Re: NEED HELP! First Time to the range, Not good

So, you're saying that you did go back to the OEM magazine release? Yes I did. I am not sure that was the problem thought. However, the extended mag release was easy to use one handed except one small detail. On the extended mag release I had to hold it open until the mag was free. On the stock rel...
