Re: Anyone Ride a Motorcycle?
Ring ding ding pop pop, ring ding ding pop pop! Two strokes wake up great old memories for me. I picked up an abandoned '82 Suzuki GR650 from craigslist last summer. Top end gaskets, tires, battery and a Polaris regulator/rectifier got her road ready after the usual carb cleaning and tank flush. I h...

Re: Backlog for NICS checks?
Got the NICS approval today and picked up my new Remington 783. It took from Monday to Sunday to get it done and I have a perfectly clean background. The new norm is 6 days apparently. The store tried to blame the Illinois State Police for the delay, but I was under the impression the FBI runs the N...

Backlog for NICS checks?
I have been waiting for 2+ days for my FFL to get an answer back for a new rifle purchase. The nice lady at the store says she is waiting for response on checks sent in 6 days ago. Is this the new norm or did I just buy at a busy time? I hate to think that there is anything evil going on from white ...

Re: Red boolits
Update with the powder coated projectiles: I received my Lee custom sizer and loaded some more. Previously I was seating them right up next to the max OAL. This time I set them a little deeper with .2gr less powder. Results were terrific. No problems at all with 48 rounds sent downrange. I know it i...

Re: Taurus PT111 G2
Several members here have a PT111 G2, me being one of them. I have had a great experience with mine once the magazines broke in. I never had to break in a mag before, but my experience is rather limited on brand new semi-auto pistols. No matter, I am delighted with mine. A few discouraging words her...

Re: 3rd Obama-Ammo-Apocalypse?
I sweep the floor at the indoor range I frequent. I can't believe more people don't pick up for reloading. I have lots of 45's and 9mm brass that I convert to 9mm Mak. I give the 40 and 380 brass to my friends that reload them. Casting my own projectiles should insure my supply for some time. Saying...

That little extra room makes sense. Then again, I like the "just because" explanation. Reminds me of my Dad saying "Because I said so". Miss you Dad!

Re: Type 99 Arisaka Purchase
I was very impressed with my Type 99's. They have very stout actions and they shoot very, very well. I reload, so ammo is no problem. Very simple to work on, too. Don't be afraid to shoot it once in awhile. Parts are still available if you need them, but who knows for how long that will be. No exerc...

Re: Damage question
My opinion: If half say return it and the other half say shoot it, play it safe and return it. I couldn't shoot it with 100% confidence. There are others out there, though more cash will be required. Spend wisely.

Got mine today. Very impressed with the fit, feel and quality. Shooting with them will be later this week. I expect good things.

Re: Red boolits
I got the chance to test some loads today. First was the powder coated 9mm Mak. The good: NO smoke, same accuracy as fmj, no leading and no red paint in the barrel. The not so good: Out of 24 rounds, I had 5 fail to feed. A nudge on the slide loaded 3 of them, the others I had to clear. I did see so...

Re: Red boolits
I get a lot of casting info from this place:
http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/
This is just a light-hearted term that I thought was okay. If I offended anyone, I am sorry. I will refrain from its use from now on.

Re: Red boolits
Lots of info out there on the web. Some good, some not so good. I have yet to see any real negatives about powder coating. It is more time consuming, but I have the time (or I should say I make the time). Casting from wheel weights is the same thing in time management. I can save money once the init...
