This is a great site for finding movie references to firearms:

Looks like it's been in one film at least.
I think the P64 was mainly used by Polish police.

Re: Stiff de-cocker/safety
1. Disassemble safety, polish safety detente. I've done this, definitely improved things. 2. Remove any burrs on the end of the safety where it rotates in the slide, or the slide itself. Mine didn't have any so I haven't done this. 3. Shorten safety detente spring. I haven't done this but intend to ...

Re: Have one now!
Nice! Yeah my safety detente needed a lot of polishing. I've got a spare safety detente spring on order so I can play around with lightening that.

Re: what made you pick up a P64? What do you like / dislike?
Once the pull gets too high, it becomes impossible to pull at all, because the excess pressure causes extreme friction/binding that requires even more force to overcome, which in turn adds to the friction/binding. I noticed that if I applied some side pressure to the trigger when doing a DA pull th...

Re: Frozen safety.
I just removed my safety and polished the safety detent that tensions it. It's still it little stiff but huge improvement - I can now decock with just my thumb. There's a video on how to remove the safety using forceps to lock the firing pin out of the way. I don't have forceps but was able to remov...

Re: Recoil spring replacement
I think I read if you run really hot ammo (hollowpoints, etc) then you might benefit from a stiffer spring. I wasn't aware there was anything wrong with the stock spring if you're running regular ball ammo thru it.

Re: Can anyone explain the heavy DA trigger?
I got around to dropping the 17 lb hammer spring in. I was expecting a significant difference but... no difference that I can tell. The original spring looked suspiciously like the 18 lb Wolff spring that I also bought, I guess the previous owner did a spring replacement for me. Waste of a few bucks...

Re: Can anyone explain the heavy DA trigger?
After cleaning and lubing my new P64 the DA pull doesn't seem so bad. It's far, far better than the junker P64 I handled at a shop a few weeks ago. I need to get a snap cap and practice with it before I decide to swap the spring out.

Can anyone explain the heavy DA trigger?
I know it can be lightened w/ Wolff springs (already got them) and I know the original ammo needed a hefty strike to ignite the primer. But how exactly did this work? Did the police these were issued to simply treat them as single action and cock them prior to firing? It seems like if you wanted to ...

Mine is in great shape and only $165. Couldn't pass it up, figured it'd be a cheap reliable thing to have in the trunk just in case. Also might CCW it once CA's carry laws get straightened out.

Re: How to choose hammer spring strength?
Thanks guys. Sounds like if I order a 17# and 18# I should be covered. I found mention in my googling of making a stiffer trigger return spring to increase the SA weight a tad. I might be inclined to do that if the SA gets too light with the lighter hammer spring.

How to choose hammer spring strength?
I see Wolff supplies hammer springs from 17 lb to 20 lb. Which one do I want? What's the downside of the lightest spring? Will it not touch off some primers?
