Re: Best choice of Wolff replacement springs for an P-64?

jski wrote: July 21st, 2018, 1:47 am Strangely (?), my P-64 has a very manageable DA trigger pull (but certainly suboptimal). The manufacturing date is 1967. Does that have anything to do with this?
Unless you've owned it since day 1, it's reasonable to assume someone *might* have already replaced the springs.

Re: Can't get slide on with Wolff recoil springs

Are you sure you have the trigger guard pulled out of the way?

Also, do you have the recoil spring flipped the right way? The narrow end goes over the barrel by the breech.

Re: Just got my P64, seems very difficult to rack slide and flip safety

For the slide, make sure the recoil spring is flipped the right way. The tight end of the coils is supposed to be on the barrel where it meets the breech, and the looser coils towards the muzzle. Also, if the grips are screwed on too tight, it can cause problems with mag release and sear movement. A...

Re: I might be an idiot, buuuut...Hammer wont stay back

With safety off, it should def stay back...that's the whole premise of a semi-auto...the slide re-cocks the hammer for the next shot... Now, if it's dropping the hammer with the safety ON, then that's normal. With it dropping and safety OFF, sounds like yours will go full auto if you try shooting it...

Walmart actually has a decent wide genuine leather belt, I think it was either Wrangler or Levis. Around $17, sturdy nickel-plated buckle, good thickness.

I don't run the site, but I know they've had problems with spammers in the past. My bet is to cut out that crap, and perhaps keep lib trolls from trying to ruin the site.

Re: Gun decocks upon racking the slide

Make sure the little strut that connects the hammer spring to the hammer is seated correctly. It is very easy to reassemble the pistol with this not aligned properly.

I just can't see myself using one of these...granted, i don't reload. Seems a little too hard core, like an accessory for an accessory.

I guess if flying shell casings were a problem for me I'd look into a revolver. Or something belt fed haha.

Re: Double Action. Why?

I think the trigger pull issue is directly related to the past experience of the shooter. If you grew up on DA revolvers and learned young how to cope with Colt 1878/1902s or RG revolvers the long and stacking DA pull of the P64 is virtually a non-issue. If however all you know is SA semi-autos lik...
