Re: P64 Slide Not Completely Closing

I did not square off the ends of the new springs. As of now, I put the original spring back in and will fire it this way first.

Why are there problems with the new springs the way they are cut? How much do I need to taper the ends?

Re: P64 Slide Not Completely Closing

The chamber is and was clean, no problems dropping a cartridge into the chamber. I will put on the original spring and take it back to the range next week. I will use one brand of ammo and swap out the sping to see if there are differences in feeding. I was closing the slide by just gripping it and ...

P64 Slide Not Completely Closing

I was at the range today and was shooting various brands of ammo to find out which the P64 prefers. It sure isn't fond of Hornady's ammo. A few months ago I replaced the springs, I put in the 22 lb recoil spring and the 18 lb hammer spring. This is my first time out with the new springs. I had probl...

Re: Another New Guy Here!

My pistol from Classic also had the pistol and magazines sliding around like BBs in a boxcar. I was a bit surprised with the lack of packing. Still, they were in great shape, I paid the extra $10 bucks too for the hand select.

Re: carry gear for your P-64

eclipse57, Sorry to hear of your disappointment, no need to give up just yet. As I noted with my Tagua, it was tight, even after stretching it for a few days. I could get the thumb break to snap shut with the hammer down, safety on, but it would unsnap too easily. The thumb break fit better, but not...

Re: carry gear for your P-64

If anyone cares....I have an update on my Tagua holster. The strap really did not stretch enough and was overly tight and prone to becoming unsnapped. So, I cut off the strap and cleaned up the ends. It is much more useful now.

Yep, the Tagua is fitting much better now. It has been snapped shut shut, with the safety ON, for over a week. Still a little effort to snap it.

Re: Problem with shooting and also reassembling P64

My "duh" moments are when the trigger guard goes back into place while re-assembling, keeping the slide from going into place. So, whenever the slide won't go in, I check to make sure the trigger guard is out of its slot.

Re: Extra Mag. Case

Cooper, it is this one. http://www.smkw.com/webapp/eCommerce/products/CA980/Case%C2%AE+Leather+Sheath+fits+Trapper+Knives+up+to+4-18%22+Closed/CA980.html $7.99 It should only be large enough to hold one magazine. CA980 is the model number for the case no matter what knife website you go to. Thanks!

Re: carry gear for your P-64

Update...Snapped shut with the safety off stretches the strap, now I can snap with the safety on. More time should help it out. Its pretty tight though.

The Tagua is a nice holster and seems to be well made. I will keep it.

Wow, keepshooting.com is fast. My magazine arrived today. I have not tested it yet, but it looks like my other three from Poland.

Excellent idea and is discreet. Does it hold one or two? Do you know the model number for the case?

Re: carry gear for your P-64

Frank,

Is your safety on or off with the Tagua?

Here are my latest findings:

Safety on = won't snap shut
Safety off = will snap shut

The bulge in the safety makes it too tight. I will keep it snapped with the safety off and see if it stretches a little.

Thanks!

Thanks Frank, I will do that.

Re: carry gear for your P-64

I have found that you can find all kind's of carry gear for your P-64, like holster's, based on the PPK, they are both almost exactly alike in size. From OPSGEAR.com, I bought a "Tagua thumb break leather belt holster," that fit's my P-64 like a glove. Price $39.99, with shipping $53.04. ...
