No you are not alone, I still carry mine often although ammo is getting harder to find regular. Did you say a polymer G-43 frame? I am wondering of that is not 1/2 the issue as it might be flexing from the stress of spring resistance?
Anyway, glad to see there is still life here.

Re: Magazine getting deformed
Does the mag stick out farther than other mags in the pistol? and it looks like the dents are sticking out from the magazine? Or are they being pressed INTO the magazine?

This site has great info. Some of the r61's were fully blued/anodized to the same color. And as far as swapping the barrel? Have a gunsmith that knows how to correctly check headspace do the swap if you do not.

Numrich has "New" magazines
Hey all,
Was on the Numrich site today and found they stock "New" aftermarket magazines for the P64. Does not say who makes them but the pictures look pretty good, possibly worth a try. $19.75.

Re: Continual FTF - (sigh)
Your other possible problem is hand cycling the action. This baby likes to cycle under the firing impulse. AND the magazine, what year of manufacture is your pistol? If you have one made before 1974 and your using a magazine made AFTER 1974 that is the issue. Mags were redesigned and the newer ones ...
