early and late magazines
What do I need to look at on the pistol to see if it uses an early or late magazine? I guess there is some difference with the pistols? When did this magazine change take place. I have read here that the latter magazines will not work in the earlier pistols without modifying the magazines. Why exact...

Re: P-64 not chambering
That blue nose ammo looks like some old Glaser safety slug. Has the ammo you are trying out been loaded and unloaded, chambered and unchambered? Some of it looks like it has.

P-64 and P-83 Mags
I have posted this before and a member said the P-64 mags were the early ones. Both are original and new.

Re: P 64 slide jammed
Rock the slide back and forth while gently pulling back and pushing forward. The slide could be off one of rails on one side.

Re: Grind these springs?
Be careful not to overdo the ease of the safety. It will loosen up some with firing and safety use. Too loose and it can rotate to safe or start to come out. A problem on one of mine was the roughness of the safety in the slide without the spring, detent, or firing pin. I figured if this was rough w...

Re: One in the chamber, hammer up: how?
If the safety "hammer drop" is engaged the hammer will follow the slide forward and then you will have to turn safety to fire and cock the hammer anyway, but with a round in the chamber. There is no hammer back safety on.

Re: One in the chamber, hammer up: how?
With the safety off-fire postion--rack the slide and chamber a round. Most of the time I cock the hammer on an empty chamber with loaded mag and then rack the slide. This makes the slide action a little easier and I can see the hammer cocked before racking the slide. A lot of old timers use this pra...

Re: cutting factory main spring
I have trimmed some hammer spring and read on this forum of members using other hammer springs.
If you like it, good!! I believe it best if hammer is decreased, then recoil should be increased.
At least we got a source for some springs. Welcome
