Re: Buldged Cases

Just wanted to chime in on this, I know this is an older thread, but I just got around to shooting some of my PPU 9x18 makarov rounds from Aim Surplus today, and my casings are bulged just like in the above photo - it really freaked me out. I've shot plenty of steel cased ammo through my P64 with no...

Re: New Member with a sad story

My P64 from 1974 got hung up the exact same way as the OP. I did not have an AD though. Upon examining the breech face, there is a polygonal punch in the steel that looks like someone let the slide slip while reassembling, striking the breech face and making an imprint. Upon closer examination, that...

Re: Reloading Converted 9x19 Brass Question

As said, in the reloading process there would be a couple of red flags because something just "ain't right" when you're doing the motions. I've been reloading for only about 6 months, but you get very attuned to the feeling of the reload - if you resize too easily, check for a split case, ...

Re: How similar is p64 to Hungarian FEG R61?

I have this hungarian R61, that my father bought at a gun show in the early to mid 90s: http://www.hungariae.com/FegR61.htm From what I can tell from that website, it is a slightly smaller version of the FEG PA-63. I would like to put Wolff springs it it, and am thinking the P64 springs might be th...

Re: AMMO

I get 9mm Makarov ammo from aimsurplus.com a fair amount. They are good people and have really fair prices and shipping. My P64 loves the Brown Bear steel cased stuff, and at Aim it's under $11/50 round box. The only way I can do better is to reload my own. I also pick up locally to help out the loc...

Re: So where did they all come from ?

It's a good question, but one that's pretty much left to speculation (unless anyone has contacts in Poland arms distributors). My best guess is this - the P64's were made for army/police needs. Eventually due to drawbacks and design improvements, the P64 was phased out and replaced with the P83. The...

Re: Got Another

Just ordered 10 boxes of PPU from Aimsurplus. I'll save vs. buying it locally, but more than that, i want the brass for reloading. I usually use Brown Bear, which I can get for $14.99 at my local shop - I like going there and checking out what they've gotten in recently. I really want to encourage a...

Re: Range report

Lead in polygonal rifling can lead to unacceptable pressures behind the round as it's fired. That's because the lead can be deposited into the grooves of the polygonal rifling, essentially creating a smoothbore barrel where gases can't slide by the bullet as it travels down the barrel. Or, the lead ...

Re: Soon to be P -64 owner.

I paid the handpick fee at AIM for my P64, but only because I wanted one from 1976 (year I was born). I ended up getting a P64 that not only was from 1976, but was also in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically - except for the front left side of the slide, there is wear on the edge up th...

Turtlecreek?

I saw this holster on Ebay. Figured that I'd check what others thought. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Trigger won't reset?

I would suspect a reassembly problem before damage, doing what you described.

Dropping the hammer on any gun when stripped isn't good practice, but I have a suspicion that it wouldn't cause *that* much damage.
