Re: Wolff Recoil Spring Fitment Problem

Will the stiffer recoil spring slow down case launching? I swear the cases land farther away than the target when I'm shooting.

Re: 9x18 ammo or 9mm for the p64

You're in good shape. I hope that TulAmmo doesn't smoke as bad as the Silver Bear I was shooting recently. (grin)

The "other" 9mm that doesn't fit the P-64 is 9x19, 9mm Luger, or 9mm Parabellum. If you get any of those, feed them to a different gun.

Re: Trigger bar crack

Both unloaded and assembled WITHOUT the recoilspring. My other pistol, upon pointing it straight up, the slide would fall down till it hit the disconnector in the frame. There was only a little resistance as the slide went back. On trigger slapper you had to pull it past this point and you could fe...

Re: Trigger bar crack

The brown color doesn't come off with bore cleaner and a rag. I haven't tried anything more abrasive than a quick scrub with a brass bore brush. Now that I've looked at the bar more closely, and seen a new one, I think the shiny part is where the slide was rubbing against the outer surface of the ba...

Trigger bar crack

Have any of you folks seen this happen? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T5mzgq1Ael8/TtECRxOmOtI/AAAAAAAAADc/H576Dno0A7g/s807/P64TriggerBar_sm.JPG I had just finished shooting in a basic pistol class. When I tore my P-64 down to clean it I noticed the trigger bar was nearly broken in two just belo...

Re: Is this a P-64?

I think it is a P-64. It has the same tapered bevel in the frame from just forward of the trigger pin to the front of the slide. It also has the same rounded cutaway in the bottom front of the slide. I don't have a Walther but all the images I can find of them lack the bevel, and the slides don't ha...

Re: Blazer ammunition problems?

First two boxes of ammo I shot through my P-64 were Blazers. No issues whatsoever, except for having to pick up the spent casings 30 feet away. (But that's the gun's fault, not the ammo's.)

Give it one more chance with a clean gun.

Re: First range report and some potential problems!

I don't know if what you're seeing is the same problem I ran into a while back after disassembling my P-64, but the symptom is similar - pull the trigger, nothing clicks. In my case the trigger bar wasn't being held up properly by the trigger spring, allowing the back end of it (the part that pushes...

Re: Grips for CZ-82

It's a shame to toss those, they look great. I haven't had much luck with super glue on wood, but if it's dense enough it might hold. My suspicion is recoil pushed the frame, and consequently the grip screw, back sharply while friction tried to hold the forward part of the grip against your hand. Th...

Thanks for posting the photos. I doubt there's room for a backing plate.

Re: Grips for CZ-82

Can you show us a picture of where / how the grip broke? Did it break along the grain?

I wonder if one could epoxy a thin metal plate on the back of the wood to take the stress.

Re: P-64 First time out

Last I knew, Marschal grips was working on a beaver tail grip mod... not sure how it turned out other than the beaver tail part broke on a couple sets and sent splinters and fragments into the users' hands. Don't know if the problem got rectified. Yeah, I had my doubts about using wood in that appl...

Re: P-64 First time out

Glad you like it! I agree it's got quite a bark, but I never had a problem with slide or hammer bite. It -does- like to rock back and punch the top of my hand with the top of the back strap though, but that's a bruise rather than a bite. I'm tempted to try to find a beavertail grip.

Re: 7.62x25 now available for folks who also have Tokarevs

I don't understand how this foreign ammo dries up completely then two dealers have it in stock, originating from 2 different country's almost simultaneously. Hard to say. Maybe it all came on the same cargo ship. Or maybe it all piles up in a government warehouse for a BATFE inspection that only oc...
