Re: Anyone Changed Out Their Disconnector?

You are welcome for the kind words. My wife said, " Someone just made a video to help you out? That's pretty cool!" I guess it's on to my next gun project..... A DPMS 308 AP4! I should be getting it in next week. Thanks again, you are a great asset to this very neat website!

UPDATE

I used juniustaylor's awesome videos to make sure I removed and installed the disconnector properly. I had to file the new disconnerctor, as I thought. Everything functions as it should! Thanks juniustaylor for going above and beyond to help me and others! It's nice to have an answer other than &quo...

Re: Anyone Changed Out Their Disconnector?

I got a little file crazy, I guess. I'm very experienced with fiream disassembly, but I did not think about how the disconnector reset the sear via the trigger bar. I just filed a little too much in the wrong area. Filing the front of the disconnector was the only possible solution to correct my iss...

Re: Anyone Changed Out Their Disconnector?

Yeah, I filed it too close to the rear of the disconnector. That was not allowing the trigger to reset. The part of the disconnector that I needed to file was the slanted side, closer to the chamber. The disconnector was too short. If you need to file it, just file the slanted side. At least I know ...

Re: Anyone Changed Out Their Disconnector?

I can already tell that I'm going to need your help putting my pistol back together. Your video was great! I got my gun apart in 2 minutes, but I can tell I'm going to have issues with the spring sear.

Re: Slide will not go into battery with a round chembered

Hmmm, I'll do some looking. I'm guessing it could also be the safety? I may never know, but at least I figured it out, with your help!

Re: Slide will not go into battery with a round chembered

Thanks! The saftey still decocks the hammer and disengages the trigger bar quite a ways. It just seemed that the disconnector was too tall. Mine is a 1970 year, so I'm wondering if there are two different sized disconnectors?

Re: Slide will not go into battery with a round chembered

Ok, After trying everything else, I have a solution. I filed off about 1mm from the top of the disconnector and the pistol functions great in DA. It appeared that with the slide on, the disconnector was putting enough pressure on the trigger bar to disconnect it from the hammer. DA trigger pull with...

I have disassemble the gun 100% and cleaned it very well. Everything looks good to go, except with a round chambered.

Re: Slide will not go into battery with a round chembered

Sorry for the confusion. Since it is normal for the slide to not go forward all the way with a round chambered, why will my pistol not fire double action with a round chambered? With a round chambered, and the grips removed, I can see that the disconnector is pushing the trigger bar away from the ha...

Re: Slide will not go into battery with a round chembered

juniustaylor, thanks for your help. Do you think that our problem may be the disconnector moving the trigger bar down with a round in the chamber? It seems possible to me if the slide is slightly back, that would cause the disconnector to put enough pressure on the trigger bar to cause it to slip of...
