Re: Why wont my slide go forward on an empty magazine

Just remove the mag and then pull the slide back slightly it should snap right back into battery.

Re: P-64 Extended Mag Release

This is a great idea! What about making one with a hole in the end so that the keyfob trick that you can pull with standard Makarovs becomes an option? Just a thought.

St. Louis, sheesh. I grew up in Webster Groves then moved to Cleveland in '77. Yep I'd say it is a P 64

Re: In the Pocket vs IWB holsters & a related issue.

Hmm you have a point there but I wouldn't chamber a first round so an accident wouldn't be as likely. Perhaps if there were a clip like the P32 and P 3AT have.

Re: P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocaly

No golf clubs? What about a good old fashioned Louisville Slugger? Failing that what about the ole zombie movie standby ... the machete. +1 on passing on zombie chow. I have a brain can't fathom eating someone elses. I see what other people use for brains gotta watch your diet, some people say you a...

Re: Sometimes I just love "experts"/authority figures.

True, the KGB and the E.G. Stasi did use that method of execution. It is quite possible that Maks here might have stained pedigrees. But the highest percentage of them that were in use by those two organizations were used by border guards envoys escorts couriers training and other duties that didn't...

Re: "Helpful" advice.

My bad I thought the guy was giving you a hard time about your pistols origin because the primers irritated him. No the US is not communist, not yet anyway and you're right another forum is more appropriate for that.

I'm going to have to look at the two pages that quoted it as being 71 grains then. I'm glad you have shared this with me. Here's a link to that corbon powrball stuff. Like I said new types of ammo with old milsurp ... proceed at your own risk. Never shot it http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/stor...

In the Pocket vs IWB holsters & a related issue.

Why is there so much emphasis on IWB holsters. I know its a matter of choice but is in the pocket holster (as in loose holster just placed inside a pants pocket) so unpopular. I love my uncle mikes model. It works well with most models of Makarov. Other issue. Does anyone remember/or use the clip on...

If only someone would make a limited production run of the original Polish milspec 71 grain FMJ's we wouldn't have to tweak with springs.

Sometimes I just love "experts"/authority figures.

I'm currently working private security. And while we can't CCW in an official capacity the argument came up by a "superior" a while back that I couldn't carry my P-64 as a duty weapon in an official armed capacity. When I asked him why he said "Because that pistol is not approved for ...

Re: E.G. Makarov?

E.G's are better. They were made at the Simon-Suhl plant where other historic German arms were made. They have a better reputation and most I've seen have better finishes. Even the consensus netwide is that E.G's are better than original Russian military issue. I suppose they're slightly more collec...

Re: I got shot by my P64 yesterday...

That's why I don't carry with the first round chambered. I know it means you need an extra split second to rack the slide but it avoids a host of ills. If I need an extra second a foot sweep, kick, elbow smash, or punch will buy it for me, speaking hypothetically. I've lived a full life if God wants...
