Re: Safety Lever

I would NOT machine anything if it worked before you took it apart and now it doesn't ... although you MIGHT have removed some gunk that was helping it work, chances are that you just didn't get it back together quite right ... keep trying and remember, patience is a virtue ... eventually it will co...

Re: Problems weighing Red Dot powder.

FWIW, I continue to be satisfied with my RCBS system. Highly recommended

Re: Problems weighing Red Dot powder.

My Lee "less-than-Perfect" Powder measure only measures stick powders well. The flaked Alliant pistol powders meter OK, and the little spherical stuff like AA#9 and some Winchester powders gum up the works in two or three rounds. I REALLY wanted to use 800X for fullhouse 10mm loads ... but...

No problem ... just let me know if you need any oddball loads run through the QuickLoad simulator ...

Be safe!

Re: Fast burn, low flash powder for 357 short barrled revolv

GR,

I have had good low flash luck with VihtaVuori powders. They have load data online and if you need a starting point for some loads using faster powders than they list for 357, just give me a holler and I'll run them through QuickLoad for you.

Re: Reloading for Dummies

If you are talking about casting your own bullets (eg from wheelweights) then you would want a .364 or a .365 diameter sizer with any good lube like Liquid Alox ... if you are just wanting to reload these, then you don't want lube at all ... you want carbide dies for the 9x18 (9mm Makarov) ... I hig...

Re: Reloading for Dummies

Hey Norm, Does the current edition of the ABC's still have the anecdotes of Lee doing stupid reloading tricks? I had an edition MANY years ago that I thought was terribly irresponsible in the light-hearted approach that it took to doing off the wall "experiments" ... I have never bothered ...

Re: post some your pet 9 X 18 loads

When I first started loading for the 9x18 I couldn't find any load data at all! I did, however, have the QuickLoad software to model the interior ballistics and I set out to develop loads with that as a guide. THE FOLLOWING LOAD IS VERY LIKELY A MAX LOAD AND ANYONE THAT ATTEMPTS TO USE IT SHOULD, AS...

Thoughts on the "HELLER" Case

I had the opportunity to be part of a small group talking to Justice Kennedy a couple of years ago. He was asked what the biggest challenge of being a SC Justice was and he responded to the tune of: "Sometimes doing the right thing in terms of the Constitution means that you let someone off the...

Sight question

There is a product called brite-sights or some such. Another option is the model airplane paint that Testors sells ... white seems to be better than all the fancy fluorescent colors, but white-out won't hold up.

P-64 at SOG

Over the years I've gotten quite a few things from SOG and have been happy with all but a P64 that had a malfunctioning safety ... they had me ship it back (on their nickel) and promptly replaced it with a good one. That being said, I recently saw their "British" Martini-Henry antiques on ...

HBE Gunleather

I got a sharkskin trimmed horsehide pocket holster from Eric at HBE (Holsters By Eric) ... I ended up giving it to my brother for his P64, it was a VERY nice gift ...

Eric is a good guy to work with as well.

Aquila ammo?

I've only shot Aguila in 22LR ... their rimfire stuff all functions well and they have some of the most innovative loads available for this caliber ... from SUPER high velocity 30-something grain HP's, to just barely subsonic 60 grainers, all the way to INSANELY quiet primer only loads. I haven't sh...

How To Shoot A Handgun Accurately

I have never tried the teaching technique of his "exemplar drill" ... I think that I will add that one to my toolbox for use when introducing folks to pistols.
Thanks,
