Re: Bi-metal ammo
Some people do not like Wolf ammo because of reports of damaging guns due to loading issues. Wolf Gold Ammo is very good though. Some ranges will not let you shoot it, due steel in the ammo. It attracks a magnet. Since there are few replacement parts for P-64s a lot of people won't risk using it.

Re: I have a 3 dot and a 1 dot.
:D I love the 52, more than any other Milsurp and currently have 3 of them which all were made in 53, 1 is Mint Gray Phosphate and has 1 dot on slide, no other unusual marks, 2nd is Mint also 1 dot, but was issued with the Plain Metal finish and black Holster (somewhat rare, the plain or no finish, ...

Re: I have a 3 dot and a 1 dot.
Mine has a dot inside a square. I haven't heard anything on P-64s but there was a discussion about this on CZ-52s. I will try and look that up. The dots may or may not serve the same purpose. Following from a forum and will give you an idea about how hard it maybe to find out the actual meaning of t...

Re: 1971 Model
Don't know, but the latter models (after 72) I believe had a larger triangular hammer. I think that there is very little difference in price between the years.

Re: Seeking sagely advice.
I would put a hogue handall Jr. grip on it and also get a slightly heavier recoil spring. The trigger job and Hogue grips are the big items. The heavier recoil spring did not make as much difference on the P64 as it does on the PA-63.

Hogue Handall Jr. is a good way to go. It works very well with the P64. I have one on mine.

Re: Bought a Turkish Mauser.
I have a 1944 Turk Mauser. Make sure you check out the firing pin spring in the bolt. A lot of those are either weak or clogged with Cosomoline. If you have trouble firing surplus ammo a lot of time it is the spring. I replace mine and it went from may firing one out five surplus rounds to 100%. I d...

Don't forget the CZ-52 either. Most people don't have a 9 mm barrel for their CZ-52. 7/62 x 25 is pretty powerful ammo.

Re: Hornady XTP
The old Hornaday would not chamber in some P-64s. The slide wouldn't even close on mine, so I hope the new stuff works better. A bullet that won't chamber isn't very useful.

Re: "New" P-64 range review
You will enjoy shooting your P-64 a little better if you put a Hogue Handall Junior grip on it. I didn't think the recoil spring made that much differnce but that probably varies from person to person. They are accurate and dependable once you get them properly cleaned.

Re: Slide will not go into battery with a round chembered
Mine will not come to full battery if I put a magazine in with the slide open and just let the slide go forward: but will if I rack the slide. iI is not in the fully forward postion the trigger will not reset. If the trigger resets you are probably in position. My trigger won't reset if I am 1/8&quo...

Re: P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocaly
I think I would favor a 12 guage shot gun with 18.5 barrel and semi-automatic or level action rife for anything more than 25 yards or so. The rife in either 7.62 (39 or 51) or 44M. I think at least you could take a lot with you. I don't want them to get close enough to have to use a handgun.

Re: Wil you still carry Safty off with one in the chamber?
If you practiced drawing while taking off the safety, I think that having the safety on would not significantly affect your speed in drawing and aiming the gun. I do believe if you have the safety on, you need to practice drawing and taking off the safety. Hopefully you will never need to draw and f...

I always chamber with the safety on. It won't hurt anything is safer.
