Has anyone fired a P83? If so, how does the accuracy, durability, and trigger compare to the P64? I know that J&G have some so-so P64s right now, but for the same price this month I can get a P83 from SOG. Opinions would be welcomed.
Thank you,

Re: P83 vs P64
I have a CZ82 I will consider trading for your gun. My CZ82 is in great internal condition, not so great external condition. It was refinished with a crappy black epoxy, which rubbed off at the muzzle when carried. But it has two magazines, an original army holster (holds the extra magazine and the ...

Re: P-64 vs cz82 recoil
I find that 9x18 recoil in any of these blowback handguns with Russian milspec ammo is quite sharp but manageable. The Hornady HPs are far easier to shoot and far more accurate, at least for me. The CZ82 has better egonomics than the P64 and with its double-stack magazine and wider grip, spreads the...

Re: Gun won't fire in DA
I do not know about that. But the cartridge indicator does stick out the back the way it should when a cartridge is chambered. I field stripped the gun and put a cartridge in the chamber. It DID look to me as if the cartridge body was sticking out about 1/16 of an inch too far. When I examined the c...

Re: Gun won't fire in DA PS
Tried it without the spring. With a round chambered and the slide rammed as far forward as possible -- same problem. OK, now that my finger nails are due to be trimmed, I can actually tell that the barrel extends about one finger nail thickness further when a round is in than when it is out. So, the...

Re: Gun won't fire in DA
OK, I took the grips off (again) and carefully examined the action. The mainspring really does not seem to have anything to do with this. The only spring force seems to come from the little hammer spring. OK, I lubricated everything well, using MPro7 liquid lubricant. The ONLY thing I could discover...

Re: recoil pain
I've found that a cutdown Hogue rubber slip on did wonders to tame the recoil.

Re: Gun won't fire in DA
I'll try the lubrication. It sure beats taking the hammer spring out again! <GRIN>

Re: Gun won't fire in DA
P.S. to the above post. I put back the original recoil spring. The problem remains. So that has to mean the slide is pushing down the disconnect on the right side of the frame. My disconnect has very little resistance; in fact, friction seems to be all that is holding it up. Does this mean I did som...

Re: Gun won't fire in DA
Well, I spent about an hour with a flat metal file and the spring. The good news is that the slide now goes on and off with no more difficulty than any other weapon of this type, and that IS a relief. But the sucker still won't engage the trigger DA. More filing is indicated, I suppose ..

You know, I have never considered the four month split. But I have also been a club member for years. I ought to do that.

Ammunition?
At one time 9x18 ammo was plentiful and easy to get. Now, suddenly, it seems to have dried up. Wolf Military Spec is hard to find and pricey; even Hornady is backordered. One fo the best 9x18 ammo I have ever fired was CCI Blaser with Gold Dot bullets, and that seems to be past history. Luckily, I s...
