P64 Vs. Kel-Tec P11

I bought my P64 first, then found a NIB Kel-Tec P11 for $239. Size wise, they are very close. The P64 is thinner, but not by a large margin. I measured using a plastic digital Harbor Freight caliper so I won't pretend it's absolutely exact. The following is my opinion and you know what they say abou...

Re: Grips question

I love my Marschall grips, but I do not recall beavertail grips being available when I bought mine. If you are willing to go with Marschall, I strongly suggest the beavertail ones. Despite a very firm grip, I wound up with a bit of slide bite. The funny thing is that it took a couple mags before I r...

Re: Why do I bother with modern subcompacts?

Kahr recommends a 200 round break in period. I am guessing you did that?
I may get rid of my P64 because I have a Kahr CW9 and a Kel-Tec p11 that I bought for CCW.

Re: Slide modification...

Buy a grip from Marschall that has a beavertail. Less hassle and you keep the gun more original.

Re: P64 RECOIL

I agree it's not as bad a snubby .357, but it is the least pleasant firearm to shoot that I own. The Kel-tec P11 comes in second, but I would describe it as fairly managable. My P64 is a bit of a handful. Even when I tried a death grip on it, I still had to re-adjust my grip every 2-3 shots. With th...

Re: surplus market dried up?

As was said, if the U.N. arms treaty passes, the surplus market will be dead. That applies even if the U.S. doesn't approve it, but the U.N. does.
So buy them while you can.

Re: P64 RECOIL

It's more than a Keltec p11. My P64 has 20# recoil spring and 19# mainspring.
If not for the lack of spare parts availability, I would definitely consider it a lifetime gun. As it is I will likely sell it someday.

Re: Safe to carry 1968 vintage with round in the chamber?

I second that. It's how I carry mine. We've had at least two members who had AD's with a round chambered and the safety off.

Chambered + sfaety off = bang waiting to happen.

Re: Modification to tame effects of recoil?

I have small hands, but a high grip. So the slide cut me and it took a magazine or two to realise it. I wish Marshcall had the beavertail grips back when I ordered mine.

Re: gun porn- my stable

That's a well thought out group of guns you picked up. The Daewoo brings back memories, but they are all bad. I bought one in .40. Big mistake. It seems they had quality control issues. My then bias against 9mm came back to bite me because I've heard nothing but praise for the 9mm version. I can say...
