Re: I decided NOT to change the springs and why.
I've always carried 6+1. No time to run the slide in a life and death situation. I have a good friend in LE who confirmed everyone needs to carry with one "in the pipe." The only people who draw and run the slide are actors in unrealistic movies. As for the springs. Mine are stock in my 19...

Re: I decided NOT to change the springs and why.
The only people I know who don't carry one in "the pipe" are the hollyweird actors in movies. I guess it gives the audience some kind of thrill to watch some character rack the slide on his sidearm before entering a dangerous location. I just laugh and shake my head when I see such nonsense.

Re: I decided NOT to change the springs and why.
Stock springs, 6+1. I've never had an issue with recoil either. Mine is a 1977 model. The most reliable handgun I've ever had. It's my primary carry gun for that reason.

Re: I decided NOT to change the springs and why.
I left mine stock. The recoil isn't that bad, and I usually only shoot in SA.

Re: I decided NOT to change the springs and why.
Always carry "one in the pipe." In a life and death situation you have no time to "rack the slide." A LE deputy told me the only people who rack the slide in a "situation" are either idiots or hollywood movie actors. I always, always, always carry my P64 in the 6+1 stat...

Re: FMJ vs JHP
I use a nylon double mag pouch. You can easily stack two magazines in each compartment. I wouldn't recommend carrying magazines in your pocket for fear of getting something caught in them such as keys, change etc. Not to mention the "pocket debris" that could cause a magazine malfunction.

Re: Slide Lock Questions from New P-64 Owner
I'm trying to work on a technique to drop an empty magazine and insert a new one while keeping the target in my sites. I'll update when I have something worked out.

Re: FMJ vs JHP
I always carry the HP's in my P64. I do carry 3 extra mags. The first two have more HP's and the last one has FMJ. The problem w/ FMJ is the ricochet issue. Should you miss your targed, the FMJ is more likely to ricochet and in a situation with innocent bystanders, could present a problem. The HP's ...

Re: Buffalo Wild Wings bans CC
As you can plainly see Whole Foods emphasizes "victimology 101". I choose otherwise and will take my $500-$600 monthly business elsewhere.

Re: Buffalo Wild Wings bans CC
I'm also going to stop shopping at Whole Foods Market. They have signage prohibiting carry inside their stores. I emailed corporate HQ to voice my position and asked them to reconsider. This is what they said in response: Thank you for the feedback regarding Whole Foods Market’s “No Firearms” policy...

Re: Buffalo Wild Wings bans CC
I also refuse to do business w/ establishments who prohibit carry. The laws of how merchants can notify patrons whether they allow or do not allow carry vary from state to state. I live in Kansas and their law on signs prohibiting carry are clear and explicit. The business must post the sign on or v...

Re: Newby with an incoming P64!
You will enjoy shooting the P64. I've put over 300 rounds through mine, mostly Silver Bear, without so much as a hiccup. It's very accurate and dependable. I don't find it hurts my hand as some say. I enjoy shooting it and it's my primary CCW pistol. Enjoy!

Re: cabellas has p64s for $179
Roger that! I would not pay $250 either. I'm going to check my local Cabelas again and see if they have any more P64's. I think the everyday price is still under $200. I receive their sale flyers all the time so I'll watch and when they put the P64's on sale again, I'll be ready.

Re: cabellas has p64s for $179
I got my P64 at Cabelas in Kansas City for $169 in December 2009. I had the salesman show me several before settling on a nice looking 1977 which has performed flawlessly and is my primary CCW gun. I've seen some places trying to sell 1967 models for as much as $269! $179 is a pretty good price.

Re: How to carry...
I carry mine 6+1 condition 2 w/ safety on. I've practiced enough drawing and clicking off the safety to be comfortable. I'd advise against anyone carrying without one in the pipe. It kind of defeats the reason for carry. Time is crucial in a crisis and who has time to run the slide if you have to dr...
