Reloading

I have the Lee single stage press that sells for $110 at Cabela's, and I love it. I have been reloading for about 6 months, and the reloading itself is almost as much a hobby as the shooting. Some calibers aren't really worth the money to reload. But for large caliber stuff, it's a savings of about ...

Recoil spring questions...

Yeah, I have the small end on the barrel. I guess the sound could just be the spring contacting the barrel, but the factory spring doesn't make that sound. It is a 22# spring. After shooting the gun with the 17# mainspring (I also had no problems with firing or the magazine release), I'm fine with t...

p-64 they have 13 left

aimsurplus.com has them for $169. Of course, you have to pay shipping and ffl transfer. Still not too bad, though.

Reassembly Issue?

I have noticed on mine that sometimes the slide stop lever on the left side sticks out just a little bit. This puts a bind on the slide that won't allow it to seat. I just make sure it's flush with the rest of the frame as I am putting the slide on.

Recoil spring questions...

I got my Wolff recoil spring in, and just used very fine sandpaper to flatten the ends. The gun goes together, and I can operate it by hand (didn't shoot it with new spring in it), but it sounds like the recoil spring is bunching or something. Doesn't sound right. I thought that as long as the gun w...

Thinking on owning an P-64

Pretty new to P-64's myself. Just bought mine a couple of weeks ago. They are great little guns, and I intend to use mine for CCW. You are right about the springs. I replaced the mainspring in mine to make the double action trigger pull much more practical. Most holsters that will fit a PPK will fit...

My new P-64

Thanks. I just got back from the range for the first time, and I'm very impressed with the accuracy of this pistol. I was shooting S&B ammo, with no hitches. I have replaced the mainspring with a Wolff 17lb, and the double action was more than manageable. Not quite as accurate on that first shot...

Safety Operation

Took the safety apart, and everything looks ok. I did polish up the plunger with some emery cloth, and it seems to be a little smoother now. I am satisfied with it at this point. Thanks for the help.

My new P-64

Thanks. I will definitely let everybody know how it goes. Decided to go ahead and check out my safety plunger this morning. Polished it out a little with some emery cloth, and it seems to be working easier now. Spring looked good.

Safety Operation

Thanks. I have looked at several posts dealing with the safety, but never saw this one with the disassembly instructions. I will go ahead and take mine apart just to make sure everything looks ok.

My new P-64

I am really excited to have purchased my first P-64. It is a 1973 model. I have two magazines, and also purchased the Don Hume PPK holster for it. Got it at Military Gun Supply in Fort Worth for $199 + tax. I haven't had the opportunity to fire it, yet. Can't wait. I have taken it down and soaked it...

Safety Operation

I have spent a little more time with mine. I stripped it down and soaked it for several hours in a parts cleaner solution. Safety seems to be a little easier now. After really paying attention, it seems that the click is when at both ends of the movement. Like it is locking in to each position. I ha...

Safety Operation

I have purchased my first P-64. It is a 1973 model, and I can't wait to get it out and shoot it. I do have a question about the safety, though. It is operating properly - rolling over and disengaging the pin - but its almost like there is a catch in it about halfway through the motion. Kind of catch...
