I'm curiouse, what did you clean the wood with ? I was under the assumption that folks used mineral spirits to clean the metal and wood both. Are you talking about the cosmoline? Maybe I didn't look at my Mosin's right, but they don't appear to be blued. It's more of a paint finish to protect from ...

plywood should be okay just go with 3/4in its heavy but very sturdy. any bolts you use for around the locks and hinges use something like carrige bolts because the dont have a head that someone could use to unscrew and get around the locks, also you might wanna think about getting some angle bracing...

yes you can convert one....but please dont, unless your absotuley sure its not collectable (no numbers matching, not a fin marked, and a something like a 1942 date as there was the most made that year). but honestly just get an m44 or m38 or 91/59( this is a 91/30 that the russians cut down in 59).

im not too worried. something people dont always know is that there is different grades of zamak, based on the copper to zink ratio. the more copper the more durrable and less prone to fatigue.
anyways i always do inspections as you said it is a good practice.

ive heard of these problems, (of course after i bought it :oops: ), ive put 50rds through it and not a single glitch so far (fingers crossed) i dont plan on shooting it alot, and plan on doing an inspection befor and after any range trips. it will probably just be a SHTF backup gun on a plus side it...

my wife has a jimenez 380 and after alittle "tuning" it works great. it had a horrible gritty trigger but cleaned up nice. it was good enuff that i picked up the 9mm they make. it was only 135 bucks and i couldnt leave the gun show empty handed
