AimSurplus has 94-grain Silver Bear JHP
Can't wait to hear what kind of velocity that 95 gets, given the numbers on the silver bear 115...

What Ammo feeds / doesn't feed in your P64
My '74 has fed everything with zero problems of any kind. I have fired a couple boxes of S&B without the duds mentioned. Fiocchi is my FMJ of choice, though the Mesko is coming on strong. I have heard amout too many squibs with wolf on the Makarov forums, rounds that left the bullet in the bore....

I shot 25 rounds of Mesko through my P64 today, and I say it is good ammo. I also fired a mag of Fiocchi, and the Fiocchi seemed to have slightly greater recoil, but that may be an illusion.
In any case, it seemed pretty accurate--I had a pretty tight group at 25 yards.

MFS "+P" Chrony Data
Welcome North Bender--I have read your posts over on gunboards, where I am "jeff Barnes". Thanks for your chrony work.
I guess, based on your results, we can conclude that MFS ammo is not really "+P".

Make sure you put a couple drops of break-free or FP-10 on the safety barrel and work it a few time. Also lube the corresponding piece on the frame that actuates the hammer drop. Don't make a habit of using the hammer drop and allowing the hammer to snap. Work the hammer drop with your right thumb a...

Polish Mesko Mak ammo at AIM
Just got an email from AIM Surplus--they have Polish "mesko" brand 9mm Mak ammo for sale. Might be good to try Polish ammo in a Polish pistol...

Just wondering if any of you guys have tried this ammo? I saw it at the gun show last week for $11/box of 50.

I use Silver Bear 115's for SD carry in both my CZ82 and P64. I have shot at least 50 rounds through each, with no issues whatsoever. Would I shoot hundreds and hundreds of this round? no. But I have shot enough of it to assure that it functions reliably, and will continue to shoot the occaisional m...

Abwehr is right. I also bought an East German Makarov several years ago for about $150. After several years of shooting and carry, I sold it last year for $350.
I think the P64 could hit $300 after the supply dries up.

One idea I had is the Ashley Outdoors Big Dot tritium sight. I know some law officers who use the Beretta Tomcat 32 have it mounted. It could be used to replace the P64 front sight. I bet you could open the rear notch to the full width of the slide rear sight "rails" and have a terrific co...

As some have had broken safety issues, I would be concerned that the hammer might be impacting the safety. I havnt changed my springs and wont. I am not a fan of double action only, it limits your potential accuracy. As you are concerned about "liability", what about a lawyer claiming your...

OFF TOPIC QUESTION Llama 9mm?
You may find some Llama info on 9mmlargo.com. There is a forum there for the llamas. It is kind of a strange site, though--you have to contact a moderator to register (if you want to post), and the posts are not organized by date. Some good info, though.

Revolvers arn't foolproof either. I was with my pal at the range a couple years ago, and he was shooting his Ruger 6-inch security six, using factory new Federal ammo. The second round he fired in a full cylinder was a squib that pushed the bullet half into the forcing cone, half into the chamber mo...

I refuse to buy "magic bullets" at exorbitant prices. I include in that description hornady at about $12/25 here in Cleveland. I will stick to $7/50 fmj's and silver bear--ammo that I can afford to shoot an get good with, as well as assure that it works reliably in my pistol.
